I've been out today. It wasn't the cold that was the problem, or other people, was the waterlogged fields which made my boots at least twice as heavy as they should be making it really hard going.
It was cold with frost still about in the shade but being without clothes was fantastic. (I know there will be doubting Thomas's about but its true, honest)
I must go and deal with those boots now

I am really pleased that there are so many odf us who walk all year round.
I've just come back from a 4 mile walk it was 0c, wearing thermal top and long Johns Ronhill pants and cycling top with a coat gloves and hat and I was cold for half of the walk, I really don't know how you lot do it, maybe I need some meat on my bones 😉
I certainly have plenty of meat on the bones. Maybe that is the secret. But, you are cycling and that makes a big difference. I am concerned about the people who talk about temperatures. I hope that we all use a wind chill calculator and know our route well enough to weigh up how long we will be in the very cold. Often 4c will feel like minus 2c (as it was this morning) due to wind.
As a cyclist, simply by moving will increase the wind speed because you are causing it (at least thats my understanding). Therefore i would expect you to be more cold than a walker
Was home from work a bit earlier than usual today, quick shower and out with the dog. Was 6 degrees but felt much colder with frost still on the ground. Couldn't resist stripping off as ever and walked for an hour and half.
Makes you feel alive.
Dropped in at my club at lunchtime to deliver 2 bird boxes. Rather than unlock the gate to drive up, I parked at the road to undress and left all my clothes in the car. Squeezed through the 5 bar gate and walked up the track to the clubhouse, and drove home naked afterwards
As long as there no wind blowing (or raining) it is very pleasant waking naked even if the temperature is near freezing. Very refreshing. In the mornings I usually go out to feed the birds naked as long as it is not raining.
Walked a few miles today on a very muddy track called Peddars Way in mid Norfolk. Chilly but very enjoyable.
I was out giving our dog her morning walk this morning. I got to a wooded bit we often walk in, and which is always deserted. Inspired by this thread I decided to strip off and walk a bit naked despite the 6 inches of snow on the ground and at that time heavy thick snow falling.
I laid my jacket out on the ground. Took my boots off and stood on my jacket to undress. Put my boots back on (maybe I wimped out, but was way too cold on my toes to walk without them), wrapped my clothes up in my jacket to keep them dry and left the bundle sheltered a bit under a tree.
We walked on about 10 minutes, to the place we usual turn around, and then back. It was certainly cold, but invigorating and in no way unbearably cold. By the time we were turning back the snow became very light with those huge floaty flakes you sometimes see. It was magical.
We got back to my stuff and I used my jacket to stand on to dress again. It was nice to wrap up again to warm up before returning home.
Another thread I saw today mentioned Wim Hof, I heard him on Radio 2 recently and have been turning my shower to cold each morning since I heard the piece, I started out as he suggested just doing it for 10 seconds, but have gradually increased the time. I don’t know if it really does me any good, but it is interesting how quickly you become accustomed to it.

The evidence seems clear now that it is good for you. There are other ways of relieving stress, but it is very effective as acknowledged by a large number of new winter swimmers dealing with mental health issues. Also very good for the immune system. Cold showers can be particularly difficult. I prefer a proper dip, and my wheelie stands in when I can’t get to tarn, river or sea...
