Carmarthenshire Council have asked people not to help with litter picking in spite of the tremendous amount of debris which has arrived on this beach.

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/piles-rubbish-washed-up-stretch-19946093

The reason is a protected beetle which has adapted to make it's home in the debris, making it impossible to remove the vast amounts mechanically and apparently requiring expert manual checking before removal.

Cefn Sidan is one of my most liked places. Unfortunately, I haven't visited it last summer:

the reports about the wardens that intimidate naturists managed to put me off Cefn Sidan 😥

Only if you walk to cefn sidan from your home are you allowed to visit, so nobody should be picking up litter anyway. #WelshCovidLaws

This is a beautiful beach with an amazing stretch of sand. I hope they do get back to clearing the litter. Clearing the plastic should be ok as long as the natural detritus is left as far as possible unmoved. These little creatures like to live underneath stuff and sadly plastic will do as well as anything. It's the quantity of crap on the beach in the 'Wales online' pictures that is overwhelming!!

I wonder if there has been any attempts to reintroduce these creatures to other suitable locations?

One life...live it !...there is no rehearsal!

The laws will change but the debris will still continue so the warning stands.

@gwalterj

Probably, the "stay at home" law will be terminated on Friday, March 12.

Watched Mr Gething on Friday, we're lucky to have such a great health secretary.

I interpreted it as schools first, stay local to be announced on Friday, but they're not sure of the data to make decisions yet.

It is indeed one of our finest beaches. Unfortunately, despite the area being used by naturists being about a mile from the main part of the park beach, the wardens see fit to drive along a couple of times a day to tell people that sunbathing nude is "illegal".

We love it there but the thought of having to 'cover up' everytime we see the 4 x4 approach puts us off.

Good luck to the beetles! All you need is love!

It is, of course, not illegal. But I think that the wardens have authority to ask people to wear clothes, unless it is on a public area.

My understanding is that the wardens can prohibit nudism within the Pembrey Country Park. It is more tricky on the beach, because the border between public and private is not marked.

Surely they cannot tell people to wear swimsuits while in the water.

Some years ago I enquired at the visitor centre and was told that the naturist portion started at the rocks.

Thanks, John. Is that official, namely, is the section after the rocks public?

@edward_baldwin

I have absolutely no idea whether it is official or not but the boundary of Pembrey Park appears to be a few yards before the rocks and the adjacent property is (I think) the airfield.

Thanks again, John. Did any naturist ever run into problem there?

I remember that the council tried to prosecute naturists. Did some had to appear in court as a result?

That was over ten years ago now and resulted in a meeting between BN and the local police and councillors.
I subscribe to a press monitor on Cefn Sidan beach and no court cases have been reported since.

Edited to add: Most of the opposition came from one local councillor and after the meeting, using some figures provided by BN head office, I did a rough calculation of the probable number of naturists in his constituency without garden naturist opportunities and it exceeded the number of people who voted for him at the previous election.
