Mmm interesting.

I've never heard of them being removed for winter before, seems a bit pointless as we had sunny days last November and this year (when the reasonable weather normally would start at Easter) has been a bit of a washout.

I wonder if someone has stolen them as a joke?

Kind of like the signs at Berwick upon Tweed. One lad (who has been fined several times, used to move the signs so that Berwick returns to Berwick shire

Went to Holkham beach yesterday afternoon despite the drizzly weather and the tide was out! Tried to find the zone markers and did not see any but may not have been in the correct area. Despite the fact it wasn’t worth going native because of the weather, this beach is absolutely stunning for space and plenty of scope for some lovely long walks in the sun. When I stopped to appreciate where I was, I could see for miles and miles and miles while the tide was out, as The Who sing! What an incredible beach it is and that’s before it caters for naturist. Please go at least once in your lifetime and totally enjoy yourself in this beautiful location. 😎

I wonder how much you could gradually move the signs to encompass a larger and larger area before the wardens realise? lol

@jesse from where the signs begin at Holkham, not so many people go because of the distance back to the amenities! Often, the only other people you get to see are those on horseback! So once you are in the “zone”, I doubt there would much in the way to stop you walking towards the river where it meets the sea at Burham Overy Staithe! This would make for a really lovely long walk dressed only by the sun and the air. 😎

Indeed I've walked that way before.  When the tides out it's hard to see the signs anyway as the beach is so wide.  I get itchy feet and are terrible at keeping put in one place for too long, so the beach is perfect.

I visited it several times when I was just getting into naturism.  It was the first time I plucked up enough courage to keep walking when I saw someone coming towards me (about half way to the river, so well outside the official zone I think).  My eyesight is terrible though, so it wasn't until they were quite close that I figured out it was a naked lady. Lol no need to worry about offending anyone there then!

It's normally really quiet, but during summer 2020 I visited it one weekend and it was *packed*!  There must have been a couple hundred naturists.  An amazing atmosphere.   I'd like to think at least some of them were passers by who decided to give it a try given safety in numbers 🙂

@jesse I really enjoyed your post and recollections thank you very much it was a joy to read as we both know the beach so well! What a beach to begin your new lifestyle with as well! Thank you for sharing!

My dilemma now, after visiting last week, is which is best, Holkham for the vast expanse at low tide or Studland with it’s crystal clear water and white sand? Perhaps now, Holkham because you can walk for much longer!

@marshalldrw - I'd go for whichever has the better weather forecast, if the travel is broadly equal. Holkham is probably more susceptible to wind, and consequent sandblasting.

@fellsnude I am really torn as they are both stunning beaches in their own right! Studland is closer and easier and about 20 miles closer. But Holkham when the tide is out, is jaw dropping!
