Silecroft beach is gorgeous. Park free but make a donation, then walk a few minutes either way - we prefer north, and go nude for 2-3 miles. Best at low tide but high tide is ok if you don't mind walking on shingle. Often windy though. Other beaches nearer Cleator Moor are ok but either not as lovely or near the main road for nudity.

The western fells are often quiet - best if you're good with OS maps, and Wainwright's guides to the Western & North Western Fells are worth spending a few pounds on if you like going up - the landscape hasn't changed much in the 50-60 years since he wrote and drew them.

Cleator Moor is near Ennerdale - very quiet and nude-worthy, but the motor home may not be the best vehicle to drive up there.

There have been horseflies at low-medium levels in Cumbria in the hot weather. Watch out for ticks in bracken.

Had a wonderful walk round Ennerdale Water this afternoon. Google said 7.5 miles, sempt further. South side a lovely walk if a little rough under foot, north side easier but  boring. Nice waterfall on route but a bit slippy to get under. Did get a skinny dip in main lake though. 50/50 naked or just shorts, even just shorts got me some strange looks. Not to many people about, lovely lake, very scenic. 3 hours to go all the round.

Moved on to Pooley Bridge today, spent about 4 hours walking the fella over Ulswater, most of it naked, quiet off the beaten track.

Yesterday skinny dipped at Wasswater, Loweswater and Buttermere, the later being busy but hey ho.

Have now set my self a chalenge to skinny dip rest of the lakes before my next big birthday in 13 months time

Think I  need to go home before this becomes an addiction.

Grasmere in the holiday season! Any reactions from the tourists? Or locals?

I parked on the main road in one of the few laybys. Managed to find a set of steps down to a nice shingle beach and in I went. An open topped bus went passed as I went in and a few people walked past but no one seemed to bother. Now Windermere! I couldn't even get near the water. Another day for that one. Gives me an excuse to come back.

Haweswater was difficult, took an age to get there and very disappointing when I  did. Had to climb down a very over grown foot path. The water was not as clean as the lakes I'd been in and this one is a reservoir. Did have half hour sat naked at the waters edge though, really quiet there.

Grasmere 2 August. Quite warm in  there.

Funny thing is as I was there I came across a man of the road shall I say, he'd been washing his clothes up from where I was. When I came out and dressed I went to chat to him for a few minutes, I asked if he'd be insulted if I offered to buy him lunch he asked why I would want to but accepted £10 I had on me. He was most grateful and it made me feel good but wonder about my little self indulgent challenge. Didn't stop Me doing two more that day though .

Now Windermere! I couldn't even get near the water. Another day for that one. Gives me an excuse to come back.

To get into a quiet spot on Windermere I'd suggest take your Smart car round the south end of the lake and walk to the shore footpath from somewhere on one of the quiet roads up there. Mostly rather narrow roads but there are places you can stop. Or leave the car, take the boat from Bowness to Lakeside, and walk back up the west side to the ferry at Ferry House. It's a good walk, not all on the shore by any means but enough to find a dipping spot.

Thanks for that. I will definitely  try that next time I'm up there.

I only have a few left to do but they are all the main ones = busy.

Probably be late in the year so shouldn't be to bad then.
