I’ve been itching to get out on a naked walk of some description and spurred on by the warm weather that won’t last much longer, I jumped in the car and drove 20 mins towards the countryside. I purposely picked somewhere high up and open so I could see all around me. Stripped off, carried my shorts in my hand as a “just in case” and off I went.
it was bloody fantastic !
I only spent 15-20 mins out there, but the feeling and freedom was wonderful.
if anybody is like me, a bit nervy. just get out there and try it.
just wish I’d not bottled all summer and the fading temperatures forced my hand.
Well done. You are hooked now and a clothed walk will never be the same again. Keep it up.
@mouse if you get the ordinace survey Rangemaster or Pathfinder maps for your area (physical map is much better than their app), it will show all listed trails etc. I then normally investigate them clothed - many may be busy or overgrown or just very very open, but typically there are great walks and woods that people don't know about (the smaller the car parking area is a good sign) so you can walk for several miles and not see anyone, and often if you do come across anyone there is less of an issue since they know the walk is remote and more likely to chat nicely with you.
I have lots of maps and a subscription to the app for online maps as I love maps! However if you're cheap, note that https://www.bing.com/maps have an ordnance survey layer which shows the footpaths (short dashes) and bridleways (long dashes, or crosses for RUPPs/BOATs). Being able to switch to aerial view can be handy too, to see whether the paths are across the middle of fields or somewhere friendlier. Sadly they don't show permissive paths - you need to look on each councils own websites for those. 🙁
Also I'd recommend the Strava heatmap: https://www.strava.com/heatmap
It can give you an idea of how busy a route may be, however it's not foolproof as A) it's mainly the keen joggers, runners, cyclists, etc that tend to upload their routes and not (usually) the local dog walkers, and B) even if it looks busy on a map, often it's way less crowded than may appear. Just consider it a guide or a bit of evening research fun. 🙂
Thanks.
I’m on Strava already and I’ll pick up a couple of o/s maps of my local area.
I take every opportunity to get outside naked either on my balcony or walking in the forest
Get naked everyday which means getting outside aswell always up very early so get to walk the dog naked even in the cooler temps
