Hi,
Does anyone have a garden shower set up. If so It would be interesting to see your designs and would be interested to know if got much use. I can't think of anything better than taking my morning shower outside or having a refresh on a hot sunny day. Even better after doing the gardening so don't trample mud in the house. Would be interested to hear your views on whether it is practical.
Some great design ideas on the internet.
It’s not an idea I’ve ever considered, but thinking of it now you mention it, it would prove quite an undertaking for me as all our plumbing is at the front of the house and extending pipe work to the back garden would be a nightmare. And even then there’s no suitable wall space to fit a shower so it would need to be a stall of some sort away from the house …

I haven't got a design yet, but have just bought a house in France that needs a lot of work and as we don't have a working bathroom (need a new septic tank) have discussed with Mrs App having an outdoor shower.
She seemed ok with the idea as there is a space to the side of the house we could convert easily and would get the morning sun.
Would also be interested in other peoples ideas.

I have fantasised about having one for several decades! I'd love one, but the layout of our house and garden isn't ideal for an easy installation - it could be done but would require demolition and rebuilding of a brick shed. There are alternative positions but given the amount of use it would get it can't be justified.

I saw a few on the internet that make use of that waste of space some people have at the side of the house
I just use the garden hose - it comes with the advantage that it heats up in the sun so you start warm water that gets cooler - if you leave it rolled out with water in it.
Have used a hose to cool down but not for an actual shower. Would be good to have a proper shower head and mixer so can properly wash hair etc.
Sort of an outdoor shower - in the early 2000s I used to go on an archaeological dig in Bucks and several of use camped in the field. We had a tap at the edge of the field which I used to use as a shower., with a bit of crouching.
another alternative is to make use of heavy rain shower. I have done this on occasion in the summer.
Stressed when dressed
Hi, yes a summer rain shower is great but i was talking of an actual functioning shower that could be used every day if wanted. I know our climate does not permit all year use but cant think of any thing greater than an open shower listening to the birds in the morning. Probably made more appealing due to fact that our ensuite has no window and main bathroom glass is small and heavily frosted.
When on holiday often find cottage to have a large and plain glass window that can be flung open to let the morning air in. Where we stopped last year you could do this and watch the sea whilst having a shower.
We have a garden shower at our home in Spain. I installed it because we needed guests to take a shower to wash off sun lotion before taking a dip in the pool, but my wife and I also enjoy taking our daily shower in it whilst looking at the mountains, listening to the nightingales or watching the vultures gliding on the thermals above. There is a track at the side of it screened with artificial hedging but our neighbours don't worry about us using the garden anyway.
We are now at the age where we need to move nearer to a town with all its facilities but we are determined that wherever we go we will need to install an outdoor shower.

I have been staring at the screen for far too long this evening , eyes are sore and vision blurred. Consequently I read the topic title as "golden shower"
