Also, remember from the traditional car park there was walk across a very waterlogged field, easily passable in sandals though.

Beach was nice and sandy, very peaceful, quite a wide expanse.

There's also Druridge Bay up there, although it's not one I've done.

Ross is a favourite not been in a couple of years. Park on the road verge in village head to the beach its about 3/4-1 mile but a nice walk easy going. When you get to the beach turn left and walk along and pick a spot. Most if not all tend to stay in the hollows of the dunes and walk down to the sea for a paddle or swim. Got to be one of best beaches in the UK. You can walk along it for miles but just watch out for other walkers not that many though. Nice views of Holy Island too.

Can anyone give us any information about Ross Back Sands. We have been told the beach is used by naturists and we are going to be in Northumberland in the summer.

Did you manage to get to this beach? Has anyone recently been here as it appears to be so popular it certainly is somewhere I would like to visit myself. Any guidance on what route to take from the farm to get to the beach will be most welcome and if anyone would like to accompany me naked or otherwise feel free to contact me.

Davey, the route to the beach can not be easier, just one village road go right to the end and keep going in a straight line There is posts to guide.

I love this beach as a lovely location. Even get to wander round some wrecks if tides have been right to move the sand.

When hit each go left. eventually see a large break in dunes. Normally very few people round this area or just a little further on. You can find places to get out the wind.

I used to stop off at Waren Mill. Clearly I missed the easy route as it was a good distance to walk to the beach.  Quiet and breezy. The whole of Northumberland's coast line is beautiful. A secret

@hillwalker Yes, it’s fab up here. I don’t know whether to tell everyone or to keep it a secret, just for us locals.

@gunner2302 well, the tourist board used to say the Northumberland coast is England's best kept secret. Use Haggerston as a base to explore this fantastic area (I used to live in Duns)

We go to Bamburgh every year, usually towards end of April. Have visited Ross a few times and both the walk to the beach and the beach it self are beautiful. I have been naked there but usually the winds are too cold in April. Not been to the beach for three years now but hopefully all the media attention for Northumberland will not have made it too busy. Last year was the busiest we have ever seen Bamburgh and we have stayed there 19 times.

Finally got there for a few hours this week. Despite the ends of the beach being closed off for nesting birds there was still a huge empty area left to play in. I think there was another nudist on the beach but it was too far away to tell. Perfect sand, very cool sea, lots of peace and quiet. Lovely day for it.

I visited Ross Sands a fortnight ago. Relatively few people about and no naturists, probably due to the presence of staff from Natural England warning people to keep clear of the nesting bird areas. They had a powerful monocular to keep an eye on people too. The lady in question told me she was there between 1pm and 9pm and when I expressed surprise at her being there at such a late hour, she said a lot of locals turned up after 6pm.

Otherwise, this would be a good spot with plenty of flat sandy beach and I was disappointed not to be able to strip off.

I'm sure the nature wardens are used to seeing a few naturists on that beach, so I wouldn't be inhibited by their monocular. They are policing bird safety, not nudity, which is after all legal and to some extent traditional there. We're thinking of going at the weekend. Mrs F may have a different view...

I doubt if the nesting birds are bothered about nudity!

I very much doubt that the wardens have any interest in nudity - it's not within their remit anyway, and if they were to use their optical aids for spying on naked people, other than to legitimately shoo them away from nesting areas, it could possibly even be an offence if deemed to be for gratification.
