On the Atlantic coast there is Vale Figueira Beach.
These are the directions I have copied from another site but this beach is great when the tide is out you can walk for about ½ mile or more into other bays. On the coast of Alentejo, south of Aljezur. If you come from Vila do Bispo, take the N268 North for about 25 kms and turn left towards Vale Figueira. If you come from Lagos or other places in Algarve, take the N120 up North, then N268 due South before Alfambras and turn right at the sign Vale Figueira. You should pass near Chabouço and Monte Novo, until you come to a bakery and a sign "Praia". Here, take the right hand fork of a dirt road and keep left for another 2,5 km, soon after which you should be arriving at the beach

been to this beach and it is fantastic as are most of the beaches around that area

life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a fit slim body, but rather a skid in sideways, beer in one hand, cigar in the other screaming WHOOOO HOOOO WHAT A RIDE!!!!
