I love the sea side but I also love being naked on the side of a river or lake. There's more chance of shade and can be less busy.
I think the best ever was a small river off the Ardeche just north of Pont d Arc. There's a small tributory La Bume. The rock strata makes it appear the river is flowing up hill. Just up from the village you leave the textiles behind and arrive in a small spot of heaven. Plenty of rocks to laze on, shade and crystal clear water.
There's some great lakes in France too but this river is the best.

There's also some great places on the Ardeche River too, including a naturist campsite.
