My fav beach has to be banana beach on the island of Skiathos . Wonderful sand , fantastic clear sea , a real sunspot . Coarse since Greece joined the eec they have made them close the rather run down but fun taverna s which were on the beach , so much for a cold beer and a plate of fresh calamari , but get over there sun lovers you wont be disappointed .

Can't disagree with you about the beach, although it's many years since I was there, great memories

I've just got back from Skiathos and can report that Small Banana is alive and well and crammed from end to end with nudists. Too crammed on some days. Big Banana is a textile beach with two discos and a bar. For a little more peace, Elias is much better, with a large number of naturists at the eastern end and even some at the other end on one occasion. The only problem is the wasps, obviously a worry if your delicate bits are on show.  😮 However, I was told the wasps have been a problem all over Skiathos this summer, whether you are naked or not.

Reassuring to hear Banana is worth visiting, as I have booked a holiday to Skiathos this September. All the other info I found on the web was quite old, so thanks for this relatively recent update.
I have one query for anyone who knows Skiathos: I am comfortable with being nude on a beach, but my wife has never been to one before. Is banana too crowded, and I have heard it can be aggressively naked (ie get your kit off or else); would you say that is true? Any other recommendations for other c/o beaches on Skiathos?

This beach is the best beach in Europe apart from France I think we have been to most resorts, and this beach will take some beating...

@ Frenchy -- We have been visiting Skiathos for a few years now and love it !!!!
You will find a great combination of a beautiful beach, friendly company, fantastic clear
seas & of course decent sunshine !!!

A couple of things -
The better naturist beach is Little Banana, (follow the signs,,,)
It can get crowded in high season, but not oppressively so,,,,
It is definitely not aggressively naked - quite the opposite, it is very laid back and non naturist partners are made welcome,,,,,,
The basic taverna is still there and serves decent snacks and cold beer / wine etc,,,,
The climb over the hill or over the rocks can be an effort, but worth it,,,,

Also - make the effort to visit the Agustera Bar on the bend next to the supermarket in Koukanaries,,, best bar in the resort,,,,,, (PM me if you want more info,,,,,)

@ seanh -- totally agree, the best beach we have found in Greece,,,,,,

OFF THERE IN 3 WEEKS AND JUST CANT WAIT !!!!!!!

;D

Thanks for the reassurinng replies. Looking forward to it a lot more already. Knowing that it is c/o rather than agressivley nude means there is far more chance of  my wife partaking.
Thanks again for the tips.

It was 2002 when we were their, and that little tavern on the beach was superb, great food, and we also liked getting the boat back to skiathos at tea time, and then having a nice stroll and a few drinks in Skiathos town.

I have never seen sea water so clean anywhere else than here

We intend going back next year, its long overdue...

@ seanh -- It's a shame that it is not as cheap as it used to be, but I guess
nowhere is these days,,,,,  🙁   (Old git syndrome,,,,  LOL)

Unfortunately the taxi boat back to Skiathos town wasn't running last year, I'll let you know if it's back this year - it was a good way to end the day,,,,,

We went a few years ago, and yes a good beach but not as good as the one at Faliraki, in my opinion

Yes It certainly was, and if i recall was very popular too, also seem to remember when entering the sea how easy it was, no rock, shingle, drifting sand, and also a very gentle incline. Some beaches and shorelines are quite challenging, bannana beach was a joy !!

Well just back from the glorious Island of Skiathos,,,,

What can I say except Little Banana Beach was SUPERB yet again !!!!

The beach itself is the soft sand variety with a little shingle at the waters edge whaich is fine to walk on, (the shingle being good for those that like to collect shells & "fake" pearls,,,), the taverna on the beach is much improved, with a better building, better kitchen & more seating than before,,, (All thanks to the friendly, funny, owner == Well done Niko !!) - though this is still a rustic facility, not over commercialised ,,,,

Yes there are sunbeds, it is not cheep anymore and it can get busy in high season,
BUT, I would say that it has the perfect balance of beach, sun, warm sea, good food & drink & fantastic people !!! (tourists & natives),,,

😎 ;D 😎 ;D
