We have been to a few naturist friendly beaches in Southern Crete.
Kommos, Sweet water Bay,Micro Amoudi, Plakias, FKK beach at Vritomartis but don't rate it.

I have been to the nude beach at Agios Nikolaos.
Large pebbles and lots of seaweed if I remember right, but who's complaining when you've got Cretian sunshine.
edit;
It was Agia Galini I was thinking of, but Agios Nikolaos has a nude beach too.
I am geting very interested into enjoying my next holidays in Crete but, because my partner is not a naturist like me, I wonder if there are beaches where we can both enjoy ourselves. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi Alex
I would suggest Plakias down the south. It's a lovely sandy beach about
800yds long or longer last 200 Naturist.
It also has a forum so you might get some ideas from it.
Enjoy.

I've just spent a fortnight in Crete and went to some wonderful beaches. When I've time I'll knock up a rough guide to where I went.
Plakias was good but Micro Amoudhi, about three miles east from there was better.
If we were meant to be nude, we would have been born that way.
Thnank you guys for tiyr help. I like places wgere we can both be happy...
Cheers!

Hello Sunshinekid,
I'm not sure if he does. I went to Crete in early May and there were very few people about so, if he had turned up, he wouldn't have had many punters. The holiday season hadn't really kicked off so there were lots of things such as restaurants and cafes that had not yet started work for the summer. A bit of a shame but on the other hand there was plenty of room on the beaches. On a couple of days I was the only person on the beach. I really did feel like Robinson Crusoe.
If we were meant to be nude, we would have been born that way.
Watching the pix and reading your new comments made me even more convinced to go there asap.
Thank you again guys!

Go for it Alex!!!
The nudist tolerant beaches in Crete are not all covered with beautiful golden sand but they are surrounded by beautiful scenery, lovely clear blue sea and very few buildings. If you want nudism you won't get beach bars, ice cream vans or sun loungers but you will get an almost perfectly natural environment.
As well as being in a natural state myself, I like my beaches to be in a natural state.

I agree with you. I like when a beach is unspoilt so to enjoy the connecyion between myself and the nature - I hope I am not too new age!
Actually I love sands but my clotheted partner loves pebbles so somthing in the middle may be really the best choice. Let me looi at some airfares.....

Many of those beaches have sand and pebbles . . . and rocks. The latter aren't all that comfortable to lie on but they do enhance the scenery a bit and you never have the problem of still finding them in your underpants two weeks after you've got back from your holiday.

We were in Plakia last year, its a new doughnut man there now, quite a miserable sod, but stiil shakes plenty of sugar down the beach!!
Anyone been to Sweetwater? I saw a brochure not so long ago and the place seemed very quiet with just a few tavernas and no prospect of lager monsters. Is this true? I'm thinking of taking the wife late summer, early September, for a gentle intro into casual naturism.
We are going to visit Sweetwater in early July, really looking forward to it. Will let you know what its like in late July. I can certainly reccomend the far end at Plakia, it's a fantastic beach!!
