Vera Playa
Hi in the last few months I shared our love of the Spanish Islands, this time I will recount some of our experiences at Vera Playa on the mainland of Spain. Although it is now several years since we went I gather the area is still expanding and greatly enjoyed by naturists.
The Vera Playa hotel where we stayed is in the Murcia area of Spain on the Costa Almeria, just north of Garrucha it can be reached from Almeria airport. We travelled with Peng Travel on half board package basis finding the long transfer from the airport easier that way rather than car hire.
The Vera Playa hotel has been run as a naturist hotel for 20 years and nudity is the norm from dawn to dusk around the hotel, guests are required to dress when using main restaurant. All rooms are good sized and either overlook the pool or have a partial sea view; the bathrooms have large circular baths with shower. Most guests walk around nude during the day and nudity is the rule in the pool and terrace area. There is a large outdoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi as well as a small indoor pool, heated at certain times of the year. There are ample free sun beds in various areas and shade is provided by palms and parasols, free beach towels can be changed as required at reception. The hotel is on the nude beach which extends south for over a mile towards Garrucha, there are several good beach bars along the way and you only need a towel or wrap to sit on as most folks eat and drink nude. Beach sun beds and shades can be hired.
At the back of the beach, there are a series of 2,000 apartments in various complexes including Vera Natura naturist apartments also bookable through Peng Travel. The majority of this area is officially designated as naturist and includes several restaurants, bars and supermarkets, many folks go nude for days unless they need to leave the naturist zone for sight seeing etc. Therefore, most nude holidays are catered for either at the hotel or in self-catering apartment blocks.
Entertainment is provided at the hotel with daytime activities such as garden chess, mini-golf, shuffle broad, gymnastics, table tennis, boules, darts, archery, air rifle shooting, volleyball and water polo. Free textile tennis and cycling are also available. Evening entertainment takes place on the poolside terrace and varies from professional acts to games and competitions.
love the place myself ,you can bare all or leave and explore if you like . going back in july, can you tell me if the hotel open at night for "visitors" as we are staying in private acommodation and may want to use there facilities in the evening.

We went in August last year and had 30c+ weather for 2 weeks, was absolutely wonderful.
Fantastic beach which has great sand and brilliant facilities for naturists. The fact that they even have manned lifeguards so that you can be totally safe swimmin is great. Has a very mixed age crowd all of which seem to really enjoy the place. Would definately reccomend it to anyone.

When we were there the hotel was open to " visitors" after 8pm for the entertainment and nightclub. Just ask at reception about other times of the day. I think if you are spending money you will be welcome as long as you comply with rules on being nude by pool etc during the day.

We've already got 2 weeks in France at the end of May, but I was wondering whether Vera Playa would be warm enough, at least in the daytime, for sunbathing and relaxing in the sun at the end of March? Any advice would be very welcome.

We've already got 2 weeks in France at the end of May, but I was wondering whether Vera Playa would be warm enough, at least in the daytime, for sunbathing and relaxing in the sun at the end of March? Any advice would be very welcome.

Many thanks. Looks like we're going to go last week March/first week April ie before the Easter break.
Thought originally we'd have to use Easylate but appears Monach fly to Alicante and cheaper then Easylate (and no surcharges for hold baggage as far as I can see).

We went with Monarch from Luton to Alicante for Vera Playa last year. We did have to pay a fee for each case we put in the hold. When you book on line you go through each stage and they ask you how many items of hold baggage and you then see the fee. You can also book an in flight meal at additional cost.
Transfer from Alicante to Vera is about 2 hours

We have almost lost track of how many times we have been to Vera Playa and we love it.
Stayed at the hotel a few times in the early years (naturist only from 8am - 8pm) but nowadays we go for an apartment in the Vera Natura complex as it is naturist 24/7 so you need never get dressed with the exception of a short walk to the large Consum supermarket (internet cafe and good Chinese restaurant above by the way).
There are some excellent naturist bars and restaurants within naked walking distance including a few "naturist friendly" establishments on Hotel Street (see map on www.veraplayafriends.com) for those who prefer to eat out.
We tend to go mostly in August and have never found it overcrowded (although it is particularly hot then).
Absolutely no reservations in recommending Vera Playa.
