We tried Kefalonia as a change from our usual naturist holidays at Vera Playa and it is an absolute paradise with beautiful landscapes, crystal clear sea and food to die for.
Unfortunately we didn't realise how much we would miss the naturist element so after just one day we rented a car and spent the remaining 13 days driving back and forth to the (unofficial) naturist beach at Scala.
I don't know about now, but in those days naturism was officially a no-no but unofficially it was overlooked and Scala was the Mecca.
The following year we actually stayed in Scala which is a fairly small town but has some excellent restaurants.
The only problem with Scala is the incredibly long walk along the beach from the town to the naturist section (from the town, looking at the beach, turn right and keep walking until you pass the rocks in the distance).
Even before the heat gains strength this is an arduous trek and on no account should you forget anything as you would not want to endure it any more than is necessary.
Unless it has changed since, you will find that there are NO facilities whatsoever on the naturist beach.
It is however a beautiful island.

Scala is a nice spot, I read somewhere that the island authorities have cracked down on naturism on the beach over the last few years though :(.

I holidayed on the island back in the early 90's and we stayed in Poros, which is the next bay round and we decided to hire mountain bikes and cycle over to Scala as it only looked like it was a couple of miles. It turned out to be more like 10 and the road turned into a cliff side dirt track about 100 yards out of town, it damn near killed me getting there in the heat 🙂
