I'm looking for a fairly easy-going beach (or indeed freely-accessible inland location) to take my UK plunge. I guess what I'm after is somewhere I can start with plenty of space around me (I'd be worried otherwise that I was disrobing too close to others for their comfort, besides mine). I suppose the way to do that's to start early, then as the place gets a bit fuller (hopefully not too crowded) I've time to get used to it, hopefully without a load of clothed types ambling through. Does anyone know where would be a good place within reach of London - or indeed further afield in case other newbies find themselves in the same boat?

I never had these concerns on the Continent, there's just something about dear old Blighty that seeks out any vestiges of repression and inflates them into life-threatening neuroses... yes, I know, blame the weather for our unfamiliarity with it all.  🙂

Many thanks, k & l. Brighton was inevitably my first thought, being well-known and by far the easiest place to get to, but I've been horrified by some of the reports from there. I suppose it has the consolation that I'd hardly create a beach-wide scandal for some minor error, but I'm worried that the outsiders would just make me too angry to enjoy the experience. Am I just making too much of the horror stories?

Oh, that sounds nice! Only 3 miles from town, that seems easy enough. Yes, I think I'd be far happier without non-nudies around. Many thanks for the tip, it's top of my list.

Dave,
I do believe 'kev & lynne' are right and I did say that we would be happy to meet up with any member.

I've been horrified by some of the reports from there

I can understand that, but we have been on Brighton beach hundreds of times since 1980 & hardly seen anything untoward.

So if you need company give us a shout, and we can show you the way to have plenty of space and not too many textile tourists passing close by.

Tony

Ps. You will have to try & ignore our bodies, they are falling apart at the seams. 😀 :'(

Thanks for that, Tony - I suspected there might be quiet spots for the less uninhibited!

Mine's hardly likely to provoke gasps of admiration! I'm not so bothered about any disturbed clothed spectators leching at me in the flesh (good luck to the poor pathetic losers if they're really that desperate), it's just the thought of any of us ending up on some sad weirdo online gallery that disgusts me - ugh, horrible 🙂

Very unlikely I suspect. The only time we have seen any reasonably close photos being taken is with permission. We used to be approached by mainly Japanese tourists, who would ask if they could take pics of us but not for 10 - 15 years now. Not sure if the novelty of naturism to textiles has worn off, or they value their lenses to much now we are older. :-/

Tony

Another thing to remember, is that pics at a naturist gathering is not a popular subject for weirdo sites. Particularly the ones I belong to! [smiley=lol.gif]

There is nothing wrong with Brighton as a recommendation, but I would also mention Eastney (Portsmouth), and Portslade (nr Hove) to give a choice. All are equally suitable, and all are shingle backed with some sand at low water, If you want more sand then I'm afraid that you will have to go farther afield.
