Hi all,

According to the beaches section on the NUFF website there are several beaches in the West Country that are quite handy to Bristol (As opposed to Budleigh Salterton / Wild Pear / Studland e.t.c) Does anyone know anything of these, e.g:

How easy are they to find, once you are there?
How easy are they to get to (I.e. are there rocky steep slopes or flat paths
How busy do they get? (Can they be quite crowded on a weekend summer day, or as they are relativly unknown, so they stay reasonably quiet?)
Are they well secluded or can you expect people to be wandering by every 5 minutes either unintentionally or intentionally)

The beaches I refer to can be found here http://nuff.org.uk/factfile/content/category/5/38/48/

The reason I ask is because obviously (as you may have seen on my profile, or on other posts) I do intend to visit Studland in the very near future, but there may be a Saturday or Sunday where I wake up and think "I'm going to pop down the road to the local beach"

Help appreciated  🙂

PC,

I finish up saying this to all general beach querists - press the "CO BEACHES" button at the top of the page and you can select a beach near you. It also gives directions on how to get there. Good hunting.

The closest beaches would be these unofficial ones that NUFF lists on http://nuff.org.uk/factfile/content/view/40/48/ and are not listed on the CO BEACHES above.

Somerset:
Clevedon
Sand Point - Weston Super Mare
Brean - south of Weston Super Mare
Berrow - Burnham on Sea

The only one I have experienced on a couple of occasions is Berrow but not this year. Unfortunatly this beach has developed a bad reputation for sexual activity in the dunes so the locals don't want naturists using it, although I think the dunes are still used discreetly by naturists but not the beach itself. I gather that the beach is patrolled in high season. Access to it is easy enough.

I know nothing of the others.

Gordon - Thanks for that, and I have used that section of the website but these beaches (if they exist) are nearer than any other and extremely convenient to get to for me, which is why I'm asking for help, as there seems to be very little info on them.

Thanks for the info Martyn.

If anyone else can shed any light it'd be much appreciated.

Wish there was some beaches close to Bristol as the drive to Studland can be a nightmare when the weather is good!

Hi all. Have you tried saunton sands.Been there many times and sometimes i am the only one on the beach it seems. You can park at the hotel end and pay, or you can park behind the dunes and walk, bit of a trek but worth it.
