Sounds lovely but do you not have to be careful with Alligators and such like? ;D

I agree it does sound great, but I too would be worried about the "locals" ,,,,,   ðŸ™‚

The last time we were in the Everglades we saw quite a few alligators roaming free 😮  I wouldn't have risked swimming, but its a beautiful place to visit 🙂

I saw quite a few alligators roaming free at Kennedy Space center, too.
I must stress that I was not bare, nor planning a swim. I was just surprised that:-
*  they were inside a tourist attraction, without apparent restraint,
* the visitors calmly accepted their being there.

Having said that, I suppose The Cape is itself part of the Everglades, if not the whole of Florida.
There were alligators, just the other side of the wire mesh fence around the pool at our rented villa outside of Kissamee too!

We went on a (clothed) walk around a nature reserve on the north edge of the Everglades. We too saw many alligators. Notably a big male when we were about the furthest point from the car and on a fairly narrow strip of land between two pools. We also saw a mum with dozens of babbies on her back from 12 feet away near the car.  😮

How fast do you have to be to outrun a gator?

A bit faster than your mate!  ;D

I wouldn't be too worried about the gators; they don't care if your wearing clothes or not. But the flies do. Umm, lunchtime!

I think this is a fallacy.

I'm convinced that mozzies are attracted to smell. (un-aired) sweat is a strong smell. I get most bites around edge of skin and clothes when textile hiking. When nude hiking 90% of bites are around socks. Other 10% are mostly around crooks of elbows and knees.

I no longer use underarm deoderant when hiking as this has stopped upper arm/ chest/shoulder bites.
Keep air circulating and you are OK.
