You have to pick your days, because high up on the moor it can get chilly. However Summer here, so lets get naked and high. The way to do this is to come off the A30 at Jamaica Inn Cornwall, If going west and take the second turning left, right opposite the pub( this would also be true if going east). You then dive for about 2-3 miles, keeping Colliford lake to your right hand side.Until you come to to a sharp right hand bend, with a road to your left immediatly after it. You park up before that turning and walk back about 50 yds and you will see a track (Public right of way) marked 'Lords Farm'. This will lead you right on to the moor.
I have walked naked from the car, but you must remeber there is farm on the right hans side, on the way to the moor and you may have to cover up. I normally do this walk mid morning, weekends as well and have never met anyone.
Once past the farm through a 5 bar gate this huge area is all yours. There is a wall running from the top of the Tor, to the bottom. so you can either follow the track and go through another gate and walk up the Tor. or start climbing straight away as their is a gate a the tp that lets you cross from one side to another. There are some highland cattle on the moor, but I have never had any problems with them. For the historians if you follow the track right around the base of the Tor and then climb diagonally upwards from the other side you should come across some well defined bronze age round houses.
The view from the top is staggering in all directions and there is nothing like feeling the heather and sun on your naked body and enjoying the freedom.
I will put a couple of photos in the gallery
If we get some settled weather. so we can plan ahead. I will put a posting up the next time i do the walk or somewhere else local 😉

Hi

This report rather emphasises the fact that it is quite easy to find places to walk near to popular hotspots.

Jamaica Inn is a major stopping off point on the A30 and is also on the tourist circuit; coaches call in as part of their tour itinerary.  It always looked very busy on the occasions when I've driven past, such that I don't stop there.

And yet here is a report of a walk about 2 miles away where Taron has never met anyone.

I'm going to keep this location in mind next time I'm on the A30; it sounds far better than stopping in a crowded tourist hotspot.

Thank you for the report.

Sounds fantastic, do you know of any other similar walks in Cornwall - ideally further West.

Hi

Try any part of the coast path and once you're away from towns/villages/popular coves it's unlikely you'll see many people.  A lot of the coast path is very 'open' and you can see other walkers well before they see you are naked, giving you time to cover-up.

Last year I walked from St Ives to Penzance over several days during August.  I was able to walk most of it naked except for the obvious tourist hotspots.  I encountered very few other walkers and those that saw me naked didn't seem in the least bit bothered.

The beauty of this part of Cornwall is that you can spend time at Pedn Vounder which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the SW.
