Having been to Wales in the springtime this year and going on plenty of rambles, I noticed that there were many areas we went where we hiked for many hours without meeting anyone at all.
Is there any actual places in Wales that have such areas that anyone has been to where it is possible to go for a hike naked? I just think that the pure scale of the areas, the scenery etc would make for some great areas, areas that might be good to try?
Thanks
There are lots of areas to walk naked in Wales. Just look at the map to see how remote some areas are. You need to be an experienced fell walker to solo in many areas. There are navigation, terain, equipment and weather considerations to taken seriously. My playground is the Berwyns to the south of Llangollen and the east of Bala. You can attack these hill from four sides. You could work out some relatively low level walks too, but with a greater chance of being seen of course.
The great green desert of Wales has potential too. Look at the map and based on your level of competence and experience choose an area and enjoy.
I need to get back up to The Berwyns and have a good days walking to blow out the cobwebs!
Good luck

Thanks Davie,
We have all the equipment and experience needed for what we consider more than just hiking/rambling. So we are not novice walkers, so hopefully will be able to get to some great areas.
Will have a look at the maps and see what we can find.
Thanks for your help.
I did an article for H&E Naturist a last year. Below is a part of that article relating to the Berwyns. If it's any use to anyone...

The most popular place to start exploring these hills is from Pistyll Rhaedr in the East. It’s a five mile drive from Llanreader ym Mochnant to the site of Wales’s highest waterfall. This is the most popular place and you may find quite a few people here. There is an excellent little café and car parking there, but once away from the main touristy area and into the hills you are likely to be alone. This is with the exception of climbing directly to Moel Sych, and Cadir Berwyn the highest points at over 800 metres.
Another popular start is to drive to the little village of Llangynog on the Bala road to the south. There’s ample parking and for some, the chance to have a pint at the end of the walk. I struck north on a day in February and only saw two dog walkers at the start of the day. I got up to well over 600 metres on Post Gwyn and spent the majority of the day as nature intended. A few weeks later I ventured in from the north parking just outside the village of Glyndyfrdwy. This village is just beyond Llangollen on the A5. Parking is more restricted here but I found a spot and got up to well over 600 metres again, as nature indented, this time on Meol Ffena. A word of warning, this area has numerous grouse butts so I’d not advise walking here during the season.
The last choice is to ascend from the west. There’s a good road between Corwen and the village of Llandrillo. About a mile before the village there’s a handy road into the hills with a small triangle of ground for parking. There’s an old road across the range, now only suitable for 4 x 4s but is excellent for walking. If you take this road you have the choice of climbing Cadir Bronwyn at over 700 metres to the south or north to Meol Ffena. At the place you make your choice I re-call there’s a book, in a metal casket you can sign.
I’m sure there are many other spots to enter these hills. They are magnificent, lonely and challenging. For a “free ranger” like me who loves the hills they are ideal for a day out.

Bash,
There's a 15 mile walk from Ffair Rhos across an old mountain road to the Elan valley. You pass one remote farmhouse at the 12 mile mark and I recommend that you get dressed to pass it as there's a very friendly ram there.

Ps. Tony and Irene have done the journey in my jeep.

There are suitable opportunities in the Rhinogs for naked hiking away from the popular places. They're not strolls but oldies like us manage them regularly. For a flatter, shorter, easy walk try the NW corner of the Anglesey Coastal path out of the main season, it's seldom busy (we've walked it mainly naked even in July) and there are good sight lines so you're not likely to be surprised.

I have naked walked on the hills to the south of Merthyr Tydfil the long ridge up from Abercynon and the Giants Bite is a favourite. as is the ridge on the other side of the valley between Bedlinog and Troedyrhiw,
You generally don’t see anyone along here and if you do the vistas give you plenty of warning.
I've been doing some nude walking in snowdonia , lots of opportunities for nude walks here . Keep away from the major attractions , all the snowdon walks . Try some of the less well known peaks . Moel eilio is fabulous and deserted most of the time . Nantlle ridge likewise . Cwm pennant is well worth a visit . Im going to try mynydd mawr this evening . I've merely scratched the surface of the opportunities available . Hope to find lots more soon .
A planned life can only be endured .
Another nice Brecon beacons walk is to walk north from Merthyr golf club up and onto cefn cil-sanws with veiws out over the Taff valley and Pen y fan to the north

I did this walk on a Saturday on June 8th, the whole walk fully nude. Saw 3 groups in the distance but we went separate ways. 🙂
