I was looking for holidays in greece for next year and i was under the impression that a lot of greek beaches are doffo non nude, topless yes but brochure and internet suggest to check local authorites before baring all, any one got other views or knowledge on this one.

Thanks, smoothie cpl

Hi Smoothie Cpl ,,,, Yes you are right that there are not many "official" nudist beaches,,,,

However there are a few & countless beaches where the locals turn a blind eye,,, the main thing on these is to be discrete and not upset them,,, (avoiding the weekend helps),,,

Try doing a search on google for Captain Barefoots guide to greece beaches,,,, lots of hints and tips in there for Greek beaches,,,

Our personal favourite is Little Banana beach on Skiathos,,,,,, fantastic beach and great island,,,, see my posts / pictures elsewhere for our thoughts on this one,,,, Or PM me if you want more info,,,,

Tort.    🙂

Agree, Capt Barefoot has a pretty comprehensive site although a lot of the beach reports are fairly old. We went nude most of the time in south west Crete  (Paleochora & Plakias) both of which I'd recommend, although it was some years ago.  Check out Sougia (also Crete) for an away-from-it-all nude experience.

I've also been to Symi (not particularly nude friendly) and Alonnisos ( OK with a bit of effort, but our preferred nude beach was marred by nasty biting flies)

As with UK, though, I'm always prepared to make the effort to 'get off the beaten track' - I don't think you'd have much trouble finding somewhere to bare all.

we came back from Skiathos a few weeks back
wonderful place
spoke with some people about banana beach, said it was really good. I understand there is 2 parts to the beach. The normal part with tavernas etc and a secluded part which was described by our rep as for the more adventurous naturists

@ us2heree -- That's a coincidence,,, we were there only a few weeks ago,,,,
Did you get to Little Banana beach ??

There are 2 parts - Big Banana, where the taverna's and yoof's are with the loud music or the much nicer Little Banana next door A little friendly taverna and lots of normal naturists,,,, Not sure where the rep got the "adventurous" idea from though,,,,

If you want any info let me know,,,

Of all places you would least think Faliraki naturist beach we found to be fantastic. Clean, Taverna on the beach toilets beach showers sun beds cleaned every day and the Gentlemen's only area right at the top of the beach and generally an international crowd all very friendly and practicing naturist etiquete.

We went on Holiday to San Stefanos (west) on corfu a few years ago and spent every day but one on the nude part of the beach. Funny that another Brit staying in our Hotel mentioned the beach in such a way she was warning us about it and I said "Thanks we will have to check it out". She totally ignored us from then on.  Another Nude beach in the area is at Arillas.  Both resorts have forums which mention the nude beaches.

Ah, did jonny mention Alonnisos, happy days, but may years ago now.  We spent two glorious weeks there before we had the boys.  Each morning we would go to the local shops for food for the day then on to the harbour.  A local boatman used to take us in his water taxi to our own little beach and pick us up at the ens of the day. Two weeks of naked bliss.
🙂 😀

Indeed, we had some great holidays in Greece before we had kids.  Pretty much like this...

  • Leisurely breakfast
[*]Jump on fishermans boat and dumped on quiet beach
[*]Do nothing. Nude where possible. Bit of snorkelling
[*]Get boat back with complimentary ice cold wine and apricots
    [*]Cold beer
    [*]Eat  souvlaki or similar
    [*]Bottle of restina
    [*]Glass or two of Metaxa
    [*]Repeat

Now, hurry up and leave home  😉

We stayed in San Stefanos a few years ago and found the nude part of the beach fine - no one seemed bothered when naturists strayed into the textile area though not many did.  The nude part of Arillas beach is one of the nicest nude beaches I have ever been to.  We use Captain Barefoot's guide though often come across suitable beaches that are not mentioned; nudity seems to be quite widely accepted as long as it is not lewd nudity.

I have been to
San Stephanos and there is a great nude section on that beach also on Corfu you can try Arillas I have been there too and the beach has a good nude section although you made have to wade in the sea to get to it. On Crete you could try Plakias, there is a nude section at the end of the beach and for once it is the best bit of it. Tingaki on Kos also has a long stretch of naturist beach and no one bothers you. All the above beaches i can Confirm as i have been to them. Next year i have booked to go to Kalamaki on Zante which i understand has a nude section too, well i hope so  ;D hope this has been useful to you.

The best nude beach I have been to in Greece is Paradise beach in Thassos.

It's a long sandy beach that is about 50/50 textile to Naturist and is probably one of the nicest beaches on the island.
