Looks like a good beach. Are there any other beaches of note in Lanzarote? We are hoping to go in March.

Yes there are several, four of them in the Pappagaya national park, also there is a club just north of Costa Tequise, can't remember its name and Famara beach near Caleta oop North. There are also several along the east coast as you head north with limited parking and a short walk over fairly rough terrain to the white sand.
Cannnot speak highly enough of the island, lovely people, the locals are always on the beaches with their families, some nude some not, but everyone accepts and respects you.

Just come back from 10 days in Lanzarote. Had a great time, and highly recommend Papagayo beaches. Our villa was a 20 minute walk away, but there are facilities for those driving, though a toll fee is required (cost?).

The penisular is made up of about 7 bays / coves, all with their differences.

Playa de las Coloradas (nearest the hotel).
A large stoney beach, though told there is some development and promise of a sandy beach.

Playa Mujeres
The first beach reached by car or foot. A large beach of golden sand with car parks at either end. Busy at times, but lots of space. OK for swimming at certain times. No facilities.
Mainly textiles to the North and naturists in the dunes (in you could call them that) and the South. Good mixture of couples and families.

Playa (no name)
Large isolated beach reached from Playa Mujeres or Playa del Pozo by taking path over the hill or by the rocks at low tide. Usually quite and very popular with naturists. No facilities. I would say the vast majority were couples and naturist, mix of Germans, British and French. This was our favourite.

Playa del Pozo
Small cove reached by a sandy hill path from the car park. OK for swimming, and can get busy at times. Small shop / cafe on hill top.

Playa de Papagayo
A beuatiful sheltered small cove reached by a sandy path down the hill. Good for swimming, but can get very busy. Small cafe / shop on hill top.

Playa Caleta del Cringo (now around the penisular)
A large stretch of sandy beach with plenty of space, reached by a short walk from the car park. I was told popular with naturists, fairly quiet, rocky in parts, and the sea can be rough at times.

Playa Porto Muelas
A small sandy cove and port near the large car park, sheltered by low cliffs.

I hope that helps anyone thinking of going, but I am sure there are others, and people will have other veiws.

I liked La Famera which is on the oposite side of the island to Teguise
though can be windy, have to shelter in the rock/lava wind breaks.

North of Famara is Playa del Rio. This is virtually deserted but a gorgeous beach. The reason is that it is a loooooooong looooooong walk down the cliff - and a looooooong loooooong longer walk back up - (phew). A good challenge for our naked ramblers. I am not sure if you can get access to this beach from Orzola. Anyone have experience?

I have to agree as I love the papagayo beaches, they are so unspoilt and natural, ideal for the first time and nervous nude swimmers/sunbathers (as this was the first place my wife Angie enjoyed sunning herself nude)  you can always find a quiet spot and then when you are more comfortable with naturism you can enjoy mixing with naturists from many different countries.

We went there a couple of years back. It has to be one of the best beaches, or rather series of beaches we have ever been to. It can be rather a long walk from the nearest resort area if you don't have your own transport. The closest resort is Playa Blanca, which does stretch out almost to the beach, though I gather the closes hotels are under threat of closure and demolition as they were built without the required planning permission for the national park.

Can anyone recommend accomodation near these beaches?

Hi all we are thinking of going to Lanzarote for the first time next February. Seems like Papagayo is the places to be. Anyone advise the best place to stay close by? Thanks R & T

Only problem with Papagayo beach is the road getting there. Its extremely rough and our hire car got a crack in the windscreen from it. It cost me 250 euro to get it repaired so beware, apart from that its a beautiful area although I didnt get onto the naturist beach

Go on to the owners direct web site and look for Playa Blanca or los colorades. There are loads of villas starting from around £400 per week with pools. Last time we went (2009) the toll road was 3 euros.

we have just had a week in Playa Blanca and stayed at the attached villa (www.casamanana.co.uk) but like the previous post says, there are lots to choose from. We went to Papagayo beaches using the dirt track road and yes, it's bumpy but take it slow and no problems. There are a number of beaches there and not sure which we went on but I went au naturel on 2 of them and this was my 1st time in front of strangers-loved it. Felt so relaxed and away from it all. Park on the car park that's near to the camping area and a 2 minute stroll to the right gets you on a long stretch of beach with mostly naturists. Playa Blanca is fast becoming our fave place, lovely basr and restaurants without a rowdy element. Lovely evening walks along the seafront each night before a meal in many a fine place.

An absolutely spot on recommendation for the best bit of Papagayo beaches.
We went there twice last week and loved it.
70 naturists and virtually 100% naturist. Perfect.
