My first time on a naturist beach came about completely unplanned and pretty much by accident. In fact I have to be honest, I had never thought about naturism very much at all.
I was on holiday in Swanage about eight years ago and decided to spend a day walking a section of the south coast path towards Poole. As I walked along Studland Bay I came across the "Naturists may be observed beyond this point" sign. It was a hot day and I had fancied a swim to cool down, but had not thought to pack trunks in my daysac, so this seemed like an opportunity too good to refuse. After spending a few minutes sitting on the beach, I eventually summoned up the courage to take off my clothes. Clearly the world didn't end and I wasn't being stared at by everyone within a 100 metres. I got up and walked into the sea and enjoyed a lovely cooling dip. I loved the feel of the water on my body unhampered by swimming trunks.
As I'd not planned on swimming, I had no towel to dry off and so had to lie on the beach to dry. I found that I was thoroughly enjoying my first naturist experience and all thoughts of completing my walk were forgotten. I have enjoyed many days on naturist beaches since then. This year I even spent part of my holidays on a naturist campsite and loved the ability to be naked 24 hours a day.
