I have always loved the Dorset coast and this is just of one of the beaches I liked, though I am currently overdue for a visit.
When I was first interested in naturism, my research on the web indicated that Burton Bradstock was well known by naturists and, when you get to the beach (Hive Beach) you had to walk eastwards (towards Abbotbury) for some distance to find a good spot away from textiles.
I duly followed instructions one warm day, arrived with my (textile) wife mid-morning and stripped off. The beach was quite empty at the time so seemed very suitable. Slowly it filled up, but disappointingly, there was not one other naked body in sight all day. The beach was not packed by a long way so I stayed naked, only covering up when children were passing nearby. No-one seemed to be bothered though and even a young couple who set down fairly near to us did not take any notice. However, I did not feel comfortable so stayed at “base camp” and kept alert for any urgent need to cover-up.
I thought I had made a mistake with the location and should have gone further eastwards, but had we done so, we would have ended up at Cogden beach. We did subsequently spend a day on this beach (but you have to go even further eastwards). This beach is more sparsely populated and other naturists do go there too, but it is frequented by beach fishermen as well.
I have been to Hive Beach on other occasions and headed the required distance westwards (towards West Bay). This has been good, far enough away from textiles so as not to cause offence and, also frequented by other naturists. The NUFF website reports on Burton Bradstock but still indicates that you should go eastwards from Hive Beach. Has anyone else made the same mistake or recently had experience in this area?
Cogden Beach is also (accurately) covered by NUFF
