We're thinking of France next year in the summer. Does anyone know any good naturist beaches in Normandy or Britany?

We were travelling back to the UK via St Malo a couple or so years ago and went onto Plage du Verger. This is to the east of St Malo and before the headland. Just beyond the headland is Cancale. We had an interesting meal there. We spoke no French and they no English.

I've attached a kmz file which if you have google earth show help. Good luck on finding what you want

Thanks Davie. Looks like quite a big beach? I guess it would be quite popular in the summer. Was it a naturist beach as such, or just a section of it? Thanks. CC

we have the David Martin 'Coast and Country Naturist Guide' for France (and Spain) it is a bit dated and well thumbed, but if you give us a clue as to where in Brittany we should be able to direct you to some naturist beaches...

We were only there for a Sunday morning before we went off for lunch. After lunch you couldn't get near the beaches. It was clearly a French beach day. The far end was naturist.

There is an official naturist beach "Plage de Kerminihy" near Erdeven in Brittany, on the S coast (N47.63382 W3.20020). We were there in May 2009 when there was plenty of sunshine but the sea was not warm. Not much close by there apart from a good car park. We were able to find an excellent lunch in Erdeven the nearest town, but that was a drive to and from the beach. The sand was quite coarse.

Slightly awkward to find, the directions we had, which required looking for a particular sign, didn't quite work. The right turning from the road through Erdeven was by the church.

Cheers,

Never mind the directions, just follow the signs for Plage de Kerminihy from Étel or Erdeven.
Depending on which end of the beach you visit you may find it more convenient to eat in Étel - it is a bigger place with more bars and restaurants.

It is a long beach at Erdeven and the naturist section is at the North West end of the beach, we spent quite a time trying to find the naturist area.

Parking facilities are good within a short distance from the beach.

We found that if we were prepared to walk  a short distance from the main entrances to several other beaches, discrete sunbathing was not a problem.

Thanks for all the replies. We were thinking of somewhere near the Quiberon peninsula so Plage Kerminihy sounds like it could be really good. I don't suppose your guide has any other suggestions linlanc?

Thanks CC

Hi,
Been around Normandy and Brittany a few times over last few years and found in Normandy there are nudists on a lot of beaches as the beaches there tend to have small dunes and inlets for privacy,Plus the more south you go in Brittany you find again more beaches where nudists attend and a couple of FKK approved beaches between Brittany and the Vendee region.Hope this helps.Dave

cheers...as well as Kerminihy baech apparently there is Les Kaolins beach D162 west from Ploemeur , turn south at Fort Bloque along coast road D152 and find car park by golf course.

or Penthièvre beach 5 km south of Plouharnel on D768 opposite the gates to Camping les sables blancs is a lane west to the beach...good luck, as part of the fun is discovering them!
