Slapton sands are nudist tolerant.
Was there last week- It was very windy but by getting back into the shelter of the cliffs i was able to get some nude sun bathing in.

My big mistake was taking the caravan with the intention of staying at manor farm strete then arriving and finding that they were shut till the thursday before easter, which was when I was due to travel back.

Park at the car park near strete then walk left along the beach until you are past the old boat winches and the rest of the beach is yours.

Many thanks for that useful information Pete. I'm hoping to visit Slapton sands for the first time this summer.  Dave

Like Dave, Slapton is a beach we want to visit. Thanks for the report Pete, I hope you found a suitable alternative for your caravan.

Slapton can be a good beach, but often quite breezy, and also very mixed clientele. A few very sociable people there, but since windbreaks are the order of the day, because of aforementioned breeze, this seems to create isolation zones.
I always remember going to Pilchards some 40 years ago, when it was one of the very few places that was acceptable to be nude, but am glad the the naturist area has extended so much further down the beach.

Hi, new to forum but also a bit of a regular at Slapton, so here's a bit more info. The breeze has been mentioned but that's at it's worst when the wind is southerly or easterly. from the south west the cliffs do provide a bit more shelter. There are a wide range of people using the beach, and although the windbreaks were mentioned, the more social and family type groups tend to range along the sloping beach facing the sea. Those wishing for more privacy seem to hang back towards the cliffs.

The car park is very expensive, £5.50 per day last summer. Better going by bike, motorised or otherwise if possible. Very limited parking available on the road, but study the road markings carefully as plenty of people get ticketed.

Enjoy it.

This is my favorite english beach found it to be very friendly and a good mix of people there . Myself not being one to enjoy a long walk before you can settle down and enjoy the sun and sea i tend to settle down to some serious relaxing not far beyond the boat winch markers , here i`ve been very suprised by the mix of nude and non nude visitors happily mixing together side by side which makes it feel like an ordinary everyday beach thats clothes optional as all should be in an ideal world  🙂 also found that the locals in that part of the country are very friendly and after a two week stay made a number of friends that i`m still in touch with now . At the other end of the bay is a village called torcross there i found the pub called the Start Bay Inn the food there is fantastic and great value can get very busy in the height of summer but the wait is well worth it . They cook fish delivered straight from a boat to their door by a local fisherman and all other food is also supplied local farms etc . hope you enjoy a break there as much as i do i can`t help but keep returning year after year .
