This beach is just about a mile to the east of Sidmouth on the south Devon coast. I prefer it to Budleigh which is not a great distance away, but access to it is not easy as one either has to walk along the beach from Branscombe or from Sidmouth. Alternatively one parks the car in the Donkey Sanctuary car park just inland from the beach and then walk down a fairly steep path to the beach. At the end of the path turn right onto the shingly/pebbly beach and after about 200 metres you come across a more secluded area where both couples and singles can take advantage of the opportunities.
I do like this beach, but it can be a bit of a hike !

I went to this Weston a week a go or so, its the second time i have been here over the years, just to add to all that has been already said about it.
I is a lovely hid away beach small pebbles not over looked in any way,
The walk down to it is no problem but the walk back is a real climb with narrow steep steps that seem to go on for ever up from the beach then you have the long climb back to where you have parked your car.
I am reasonably fit 47 year old life long non smoker etc and was knackered
when i reach the Donkey sanctuary for a well earned cup of tea so Bewarned
about how hard it is back from the beach on a hot day!

We go to this too.
There is another carpark just at the top of the entrance to the path down to the beach.
However on a good day it's first come first to park.
The lanes are narrow and parking along them you may find your car altered by manchinery that travel along them.
Your so right it's a hike back up.
We have found that when you enter the beach and turn to the left and go past the headland there is another beach with shalets hidden by the thickets.
This beach is mostly quiet and access can be gained from the cliff top path.

old thread I know but has anyone been recently? On another site someone has said the bottom part of the steps have been washed away & there's now a 3m drop to navigate?

I really should have been born on a tropical island

I like it down there but it's a hard walk back to the car after  a day on the beach. We're there many people down there?

We have been using Weston Mouth for nearly 30years. Some years more than others - depends on the weather and our other activities.
Recently, been there a lot as it's been a great summer, and also another friend is keen on swimming au naturel, solid a good progress for a shorter visits.

As far as I am aware, both sides of the beach have always been used by naturists, with just a couple hundred metres in the centre textile.

Last Sunday, I swam and sunbathed at the west end, then slipped my shorts on to cross to the East side. From there I walked clothes free for 1.5km to the western end of the next bay, Littlecombe Shoot( the one with the cliffside shacks described above).  I then put on my shorts due to others around, and carried on another 2km or so to Branscombe mouth, and had a coffee, beer, and ice cream at the Sea Shanty cafe bar. Then returned to Weston, again naked for the last mile after passing the last textile at Littlecombe Shoot.

It's also possible to walk naked westwards around to the next beach - Salcombe Mouth.

It's a great area with a wild feel.  The path above at Lincombe/Dunscombe cliffs is well worth a visit too.  Lots of Wild flowers, interesting rocks, and currently grazed by Exmoor ponies.

Just to add

I think there are fewer users than years back.  Most also, seem to sit back by the cliff edge rather than out in the open.

It feels to me, as a regular naked  beach user (not so much of a  social naturist( up to now)), that there are fewer naturists and fewer families/ younger folk than there were.
Maybe a sign of the times

I’ve also used this beach for the last 30 years. The demographic has perhaps changed, we’re a lot older than we were back then!
I usually park at the Donkey Sanctuary, and then it’s a good hike down to the beach (and uphill at the end of the afternoon) - a good workout. Sometimes I park at Salcombe Regis, but I’m not sure that it’s any easier... probably longer.

Well. Today is busier than we've seen it for some years. Even in early summer last year.  I guess after this winter, people are taking advantage of this weekend's fantastic weather.
Gorgeous. Though I could only stay in the sea for seconds rather than minutes. Instant brain freeze!

Hi all. How busy does Western mouth beach get. I was there the other day and only 2 other fellow naturist chaps there. Hoping for more people to meet and chat to.

Well it is November! ;D

It doesn't get massively busy.  But on a hot summer weekend, there will be maybe 50 naturists at the West end and say 20 well spread over the east side.  I see the occasional bit of chat between people but it's not that obviously a sociable place in my experience.

But maybe that's just  me. I don't go there particularly to talk to people though - just as I don't  go to any textile beach to talk to people. I go to chill, sunbathe, walk and swim.

There will be as many or more textiles in the centre on a sunny weekend. Often more naturists than textiles in the week in summer

Never found it to be too busy or felt 'crowded' by other people there, unlike some places and happily most people there tend to say hello and respect others' privacy.

I just arrived at Salcombe Regis. I have a 3 day course in Sidmouth, so I am hoping to have time for a dip at Weston Mouth.
As it happens, I went for a walk to the beach from the campsite, and ended up on Salcombe Mouth . It was just about deserted so I sat down and undressed. Beautiful evening, so had a little skinny dip.....actually a first!! No towel, so I walked back along the beach and up the steps naked, so that I could dry off. Went a little too far and had to pop on my shorts when someone was coming towards me to go fishing in the evening.
All in all a bit of a result 😊
