We've been several times, although last visit was about 5 years ago, and the hotel we have liked the most was the Riu Grand Palace Maspalomas Oasis, Maspalomas (nearer beach and better food and nicer gardens than the Riu Palace which we also tried once and should not be confused with the Grand Palace when booking). We've always stayed at the Meloneras end rather than the Playa del Angles end of the beach because it is a quieter resort more suited to middle aged folks like us.

Do any members have any opinions and advice on the nude beach and hotels in in the area

Unless you are really stuck on the idea of a hotel ..... take a look at Magnolias Natura which is near the Golf complex and a bus service that will take you to the beach.  Really nice bungalow self-catering apartments and with a bar and bistro on site means that you can be 24/7 nude if you wish.  Why bother tramping to the beach?

Book direct either online or by phone ... very helpful and speak English :-). They can do airport transfers or you can book car hire pickup from airport ..... a dead easy 40 min drive out of the airport straight down the main dual carriageway/motorway to Maspalomas.

Ive been to Magnolias a couple of times and as John says, its a really nice compact complex.  The only problem I found is the lack of bars/restaurants in the close vicinity for an evening drink away from the place.  It's a taxi ride into town although that said, the on site bar is well stocked and there are normally some residents staying in to chat with so not all doom and gloom.  The other down side is the walk to the local supermarket.  There is a small shop on site but they don't stock all the needs if you go self-catering. 

As we're getting into the nitty gritty LOL!  2 supermarkets within 15 mins walk but if you have a car then its a 15 min drive back up the motorway to Vecindario  Centro Commercial and a huge Carrefour where you can stock up for the week ( and lots of other sorts of shops that the ladies like)

Just the supermarkets are enough the other shops that the ladies like  tend cost lots of money and time  LOL

We stayed at Green Golf (non naturist) and walked or caught courtesy bus to beach every day. The dunes and beach area are fantastic, although I understand that some erosion of the beach has occured during winter storms. Be aware that whilst the dunes are great for sunbathing - they are also used for lots of other activities - some quite openly!

I've stayed at the Ifa Faro which is right by the lighthouse, it's convenient for the beach and not far to walk to the naturist beach, it also has a sun terrace on the roof for nude sunbathing.

Well I have been to Maspalomass 5 times the last three in a row and will be there again in June.
The beach is fantastic and from the naturist area onwards you can walk along the front wearing nothing but a smile almost into Play de Inglis.
We stay at the Thabiba Princess Hotel in Maspalomas and have never had a bad stay AI is top notch although its a little walk past the camals down to the beach ,their is a contentental sauna in the middle of the pools there which is very nice too.
I have never seen any thing going on over the back of the dunes so if you go enjoy,you will return time and again.
I LOVE IT THERE.

Beach and Dunes are impressive, nice walk along the waters edge and the beach just goes on for miles. Can find privacy around the the dunes, hire a sunbed among the other bathers, get refreshments at the kiosk or take a swim. A lot of clothed people pass through the nudist zones which is less desirable but no big deal. Can be windy but we still love it there.
