Haulover Beach in N. Miami is one of my favorite beaches to visit when I lived in the Midwest. Though it was a 2 day trip to go down, it was very rewarding to spend time on the beach. I made many friends there through the years. I used to stay at a small motel up from the beach making a short walk to the nude area within 5 minutes or so. On weekends you would find several thousand people of all ages enjoying the beach.
My wife and I recently went to Haulover Beach. We loved the experience. It was a great beach with lots of friendly people. The beach had three sections. The north end had more gay population , the middle had couples and the south end had families. We were there on a Saturday and there were probably 1500-2000 people on the beach. A few had clothing on, but 98% were enjoying the beach nude.
I agree that Haulover is a good beach. Amazing that it's so (relatively) small when the beaches either side are nearly deserted. Try looking at the Google Earth satellite view to compare the parking lots!
Have you tried any of the hot springs in Southern California? I can recommend Deep Creek Hot Springs but there are many more I hope to visit.
The American bare sites advise that "nudity" is now illegal in public( including beaches) . does anyone know the legal position as we will be hoping to bare all in California next year and prefer not to use the (expensive) members clubs .
All info gratefully recieved.

A couple of years ago we enjoyed Baker beach in San Francisco (the Golden Gate Bridge makes a cool backdrop); and we were blown away by Secret Cove on Lake Tahoe (which is just five or six miles over the border on the Nevada side of the shore).

There are many undeveloped hot springs in California. Most of these are clothing optional with about 70% using them nude.
Deep Creek Hot Springs is a fantastic location and you can hike in and out nude too. There is a lot of wild country that is suitable for nude use. Best places are public owned wilderness areas.
