If your photographs are in your Album in the new Media Centre then they can only be seen by another NC Media Centre Member who, like yourselves, has also been validated as a genuine and therefore trusted member of your community. We think that this significantly reduces the risk of your photographs being stolen from this website.

Junior Members and un-validated Full Members cannot browse the Media Centre Albums.

Members should be advised that putting the password to your personal off-site photo or video album website into the public domain is generally not recommended.

Warning - Are your photos being used on porn sites?

In order to check if images have been used elsewhere Chrome users* can simply open a tab and go to Google's image search then on a new tab click on the image they want to search for and drag it to the tab with the Google image search on it (do not release the mouse yet). The browser will switch to the Google search tab, now drag the mouse down to the search box and release it. Google will search for other occurrences of the image in other sizes and also for images cropped from it or from which it has been cropped. Quick, simple, effective.

Thanks for the information on how to track down images as I was totally unaware of this very useful internet facility,but hopefully I will never have to use it ,best wishes. 🙂

Also, NC's security prevents it from working on pictures posted in the Media Centre.

Thanks for the information and the Firefox link, I am new to nudism and although I don't mind being photographed and sharing the photos with other like minded people the thought of having them displayed on a porn site is pretty herendous.  I number of friends and family know I am a naturist but i wouldn't what any people I know discovering such photos on such a site.
Shame they were stolen in the first place.

Media Centre members should be aware that we have experienced problems uploading images which have been modified in Adobe Photoshop. 

It's not a problem that happens every time and appears to be related to specific metadata that is written to the file when saved.  We are investigating further and in the meantime recommend that members try out just one photo first before committing to changing their entire album.

Totally outrageous! Talk about identity theft!

Sadly we found that a number of our photos had been stolen and posted on a number of porn sites and other naturist sites without our permission or knowledge.

I've had photos (although non-naturist and not from this forum) for which I'm at least co-copyright holder stolen, and had only limited success with filing DMCA complaints despite having the help of the professional photographer to do so.

Naturist photos of me, taken without my permission (and certainly without signing a model release form) have also ended up on porn sites from which some appear to be duplicated onto other porn sites. Not the same thing as owning the copyright, I know, but still very annoying. Hence the thread I started a couple of days ago.

I've heard of that too. Some IT geeks have informed me that there's a way that a website can add metadata to downloads that can help identify who downloaded it. So, for example, the username of who downloaded a picture can be embedded in the watermark. I'm assured that this isn't very difficult for 'IT types' to set up (although it's certainly beyond my mediocre IT skills).

I expect many trolls would be able to remove such metadata somehow, but perhaps it would facilitate the identification and punishment of some of them?

Liveaboards .... if you have not posted them anywhere else, ever, then that means that one of the people you consider a friend or trusted member on here has done it. How likely do you think that might be?

Did you do a google image search on your album pics first?
It may be that the pictures are NOT copied from NC but shots taken by an unscrupulous photographer. Many of them are known to use powerful telephoto lenses.
Your instinctive reaction will probably not stop the pictures in question from being further circulated but has undoubtedly removed one method of tracking the culprits and stopping further pirating.
