We went to North Cotes beach at the weekend and found it ok thanks to the information here. There were a few cars there, mainly dog walkers. They all went one way, which was the opposite to where we wanted to be. We walked the wrong way at first as it is still all fenced off, but after some investigation found that someone had made an opening in the fencing allowing access onto the correct path. We followed the path for about half a mile without seeing anyone, only some cycle tracks, showing someone had been there recently. We decided to settle down for a while, so stripped off and enjoyed the peace and quiet for about an hour. The only thing we saw was the ship/tankers out to sea. They looked as if they were waiting for the tide to come in, as it was so far out you couldn't even see the edge of it. Still it didn't stop us enjoying our time there. After about an hour it began to get cool, so we donned our clothes and set off back to the car.
Will be going back there again when weather and time allows it.

Gorgeous place when it is nice and peaceful and quiet. It is a bit of a pain at the moment though with the sea defence work that is taking place.

Wow, no idea how the storms have affected North Cotes but I can't wait to start using the place again next spring. I am really looking forward to some fabulous days there as usual.

40Rich, I would love to meet up there tomorrow but I'm afraid I am working over this weekend. I am hoping to visit over the Christmas break though to see how the place is looking. It would be so nice to start using the place again as soon as spring has sprung though and get some time there sunbathing early next year. I can't wait to start using the place next year at the height of summer assuming of course that we get one. Very best wishes to all.

Very nice when sunny and when there are less dog walkers (hopefully due to the heat).

Hope to meet couples Yorks/Lincs.

If I remember correctly we went to North  Cotes in the 60s and we were amazed to see lots of rockets facing towards the North Sea. Is that right or is my memory playing tricks?

You are absolutely correct.  I was a radar fitter at RAF Pattrington in 1960 and my introduction to computers was the link to North Cotes.  The computer was massive and had less computing power than a digital watch today but it sent our info the the Bloodhound Site at North Cotes.

Thanks glad I'm not going senile.
In 1968 I got a job as a trainee computer operator.
We had an IBM and a ICL machine plus all the peripherals and the total computing power was 24K We got really exciter when we got a new machine with 64K.
How times have changed. I remember in the 80s when I had to to a blue sky think tank and I suggested perhaps one day data will be held in the sky and I was told not to be so stupid,

I remember back to the early seventies when we used to go to Horseshoe Point for beach parties and the Bloodhound missiles were all lined up. I remember how at night, they were all faced the other way presumably to face away from the sea breezes.

My only problem with North Cotes is that that is where my father in law lives,  with whom I share no views or opinions, so I avoid visiting whenever possible to avoid either having a tongue that is badly bittern or a heated argument. He was one of the dog wallets that had been referred to and has strong views of those purvy nudist people. Be aware,  not all locals are tolerant.
Nice location though if the lazy wind is not blowing.

The dog walkers do spoil the beach as they think it is their beach to create dog mess all over the place. Most of them are a nasty bunch who live in a different World.

Hope to meet couples Yorks/Lincs.

I have been going to North cotes about 4 years and I do see lots of dog walkers about, but to say they are nasty I wouldn't go that far.As long as we keep out of each others way I think dog walkers and nudists will be ok. Remember people North cotes is not an official beach so please treat others with respect.
Rich.
