Hi I was working on the Isle of Wight yesterday, I came over on Monday and home today.
Finished the meeting at 16:00 and the sun is shinning ......
I had grabbed a towel from the hotel in the morning - just in case, but you never think it will work out if you make any sort of plans !
I headed down to the beach, I had found some directions on the web which were really handy, so parked the car up and wondered down .... Wow it is a bit of a climb, steep there is even a piece of rope in one part that was very handy.
Got to the beach and headed off to the right, where there were a few people already enjoying the sun
I settled down and got comfortable - lovely and warm so went for a swim
Decided to go for a wonder as there seemed to be a lot of flies buzzing around i have no idea what food there is for them ? maybe some seaweed ? the flies would not get bored landing on me so time to move on I got bored swatting them !
I picked up my kit wrapped in the towel and headed off up the beach .... Had a very gentle wander up the beach for a couple of miles, wandered back and had a long swim around 18:30 the beach was empty, and such a brilliant site all to myself !
All very relaxing after a bit of a stressful day !!
Just a real shame Denise was not with me as it would have been perfect then

The walk back to the car nearly finished me off !!! It really is a steep climb, maybe I need to be a bit fitter

Popped into a curry house in Newport on my way back to the hotel
So a good end to a not so fantastic day

Cheers
Simon

Used to do it from the car park some years ago and it was bad enough then, particularly the frayed rope abseiling bit!
I imagine nature has not made it any easier since then.
My preferred summer route is walking from Atherfield when the tide is suitable. Hardly see a soul now that Whale Chine is apparently impossible to negotiate.
