We have just returned from a week in Son  Bou In Menorca. We spent most of our days on the beach at Son Bou or Santo Thomas.

We rented an apartment  that we found on the owners direct website,  We have found that the accommodation offered is generally good quality and accurately described , and this apartment
Was no exception.

I found that if I draped a towel over the balcony rails we could enjoy an evening drink naked without being over looked, and watch the stunning sunset.

This got me thinking that in the ten years since we discovered naturism, and subsequent holidays, a lot of emphasis has been put on finding good beaches but the choice of accommodation has been a bit of a gamble as far as being naturist friendly. There have been a few exceptions, like Vera Playa, and Charco del Palo where you know you will be staying in a naturist environment. Mind you it was not always plain sailing. At Vera Natura we had to endure the noisy and persistent love making of the couple upstairs. Its hard for a chap to enjoy a cold beer and a savoury nibble with that racket going on.

Charco is lovely but no beach to talk of.

There was the villa in Lanzarotte with a pool and quite private garden.

The beach side apartment in Furetventura where naturism was tolerated but not officially allowed.

Other places looked OK on the web but when we got there were totally unsuitable to be naked.

I boubt if we will ever find the perfect combination of good naturist beach with naturist friendly accommodation close by, but I hope we have many more years looking.

I've found an apartment on the top floor of the palm gardens complex in Jandia , Fuerteventura. Website Says that the balcony is very private , not overlooked , has wonderful views and 300m from.the beach . 46 sleeps to go ! I'll make sure to review it here .

A planned life can only be endured .

As we are members of a points-based holiday club we naturally tend to use the accomodation available to us through them as it does not cost us.

A few years back we were staying at one of their resorts on St. Martin (opposite end of the island to the famous Orient Beach but we did manage a couple of visits whilst there) and our appartment was on the ground floor, right on the beach. We decided that one late evening when no one else was about we would go for a skinny dip in the sea which was great. After doing this a couple more evenings we then thought it might be nicer to use the outdoor pool which was just a short walk away and nobody would be using it at that time of night. So we wrapped in towels and walked to the pool for a nice swim au naturel. Other than our friends (not naturist but quite happy with nudity) no-one else was around. This became a regular evening activity before going to bed until one evening when we were joined in the pool by a couple of young American guys (in swim shorts) who had seen other people in the pool and thought they'd like to go for a swim as well. We ended up staying in the pool a lot longer than intended, waiting for them to leave before we got out. Our friends thought it hilarious!

I think these days we would probably have just braved it out.
