Hi folks

Weather forecast looks reasonable for Saturday so am thinking about hitting a beach for the first time. St Osyth is nearest to me but I've read/heard some not very positive reviews, Gunton Sands probably next nearest - but is this now not officially a nudist beach? Or I could get to Leysdown - bit of a drive but would consider it if it's worth it.

I'd appreciate any views on which is likely to be best for my first nudist beach visit.

Moderators/admin people, wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the 'where will you be?' section. Feel free to move it if it's in the wrong place.

Went to St Osyth several years ago but I personally would not go now because of certain activities there but there are people who do go there and ignore said activities so they may comment on their visits.

We have been to Gunton Sands near Lowestoft several times. It is otherwise known as Corton.  This was a designated Naturist beach until a couple of years ago when the council amended the by laws to dedesignate it as such due to beach erosion. However what happened in the bylaw change is that somehow the council effectively made naturism lawful on all its beaches! I could give you a link but it is long and complicated so visit the British Naturism Webisite and look at the beaches section.

Have never been to Leysdown and cannot comment.

I'm a regular at Leysdown. Even though I in Essex it's as close to me travel time wise as St O. I've not been to either of the other 2, but St O has not got a great reputation and I'm told its a mile long walk from where u park the car.
Leysdown u can park right by the beach, it's fairly small but ok and friendly and well enough behaved.
Enjoy what ever ones u go to

Just to add another " go if you dare" commnet about St Osyth - I thought i would make my own mind up earlier this year and found myself in a den of meerkats - not feeling comfortable - i did stick it out after a long rocky walk 0- i wasnt about to turn back that quickly - I wasnt bothewred by anyone - but the constant view of men standing up and " adjusting" themselves didnt make me feel part of a naturist community

I did pay a vist to Leysdown after recomendation - seemed a much nicer place - but when i got there the wind was so strong the only "hardy" naturists were behind wind breakerts and in tents -but from my views its worth the drive from essex compared with St O
