Hello Susan

Sue and I stayed there with our motorhome in early June 2012.

It is very popular with British holidaymakers - we met quite a few there, some of them had been going regularly for years. And others spent extended time there ie for much of the season. It is a member of the France4Naturism group http://en.france4naturisme.com/

The site is divided into two parts: one area where most of the camping and accommodation is situated mainly within fairly dense woodland; and a second area which is much more open and park-like, with a large swimming pool, restaurant and other facilities. A road divides the site and access between the two areas is through a tunnel under the road - you can see it early in the video link you posted.

The park side of the resort is very attractive and spacious with fine views of the summit of Mont Ventoux in the distance. The site organises lots of activities and entertainment events.

However, our personal perspective of the camping area was that it's fairly cramped and - for us - a tiny bit claustrophobic. The other downside was the cost - I believe we paid around €49 euro for one night with hook-up. I think that was for a so-called premium pitch (all we were offered), but nonetheless expensive for early June in my opinion. I must stress though that there were lots of happy Brits there.

And the local town of Bedoin is very attractive.

If you can get a decent price for staying there, and if camping you don't mind being squeezed in a bit - then I'm sure you'd most likely have a great time.

Hope that is of some help and doesn't sound too negative.

Mike

Hello Susan. There was a thread on Bélézy a couple of years back, and what was said then still applies: http://www.naturist-corner.net/community/index.php?topic=4813
Annie and I love Bélézy - so much so that a couple of years ago we finally bought a bungalow just outside the resort, in what is known as "Les Hauts de Bélézy", a naturist holiday housing estate. Quite a few photos of that in my album in the Media Centre.
Unfortunately, Mike is absolutely right: Bélézy is expensive, more so than other comparable resorts, like La Sablière, for instance. But then, for us, Bélézy is incomparable 😉
If you're planning to rent rather than camp, it is usually cheaper to rent a (small) bungalow outside outside the resort in "Les Hauts de Bélézy" than to rent a chalet within the resort. This means walking another quarter of a mile to get there, but enables you to get out of it all, far from the madding crowd, whenever you feel like it.
One thing I wrote in the previous thread, which may no longer be true this year: the excellent team that used to run the restaurant has left, and I do not know anything about the new team coming in this year - we'll see in season.
The village of Bedoin is lovely, with a great market on Mondays, and is about ten minutes walk from the resort.
I'll be glad to give you more precise information on Bélézy if you wish.
There's a good video of Bélézy at http://www.naturisme-tv.com/fr/chaine/j,ai,teste,pour,vous/belezy_bande_annonce.php

We are off to Bedoin late May. We have stayed in Belezy many many times over the last 12 years but the last time we realised just how expensive it had become.

We had what is called a Bungalow Bois ... supposedly quite green/eco but in truth a mobilehome with plastic/formica interior and wood cladding on the outside. And energy-saving light bulbs. Much as we like Belezy we thought it was a little 'faux'. And small.

We tried to get a house in Les Hauts de Bélézy and thanks to Jacques for giving us the two websites but all the accommodation that we would have liked was sadly already booked for the weeks that we wanted. That was back in November last year.

However, we found a really nice detached 3 bedroom villa in its own private and secluded grounds with its own private swimming pool, free wifi and exactly the same walking distance from the centre of Bedoin ... and €200 cheaper for a fortnight than the Belezy mobilehome.

There are lots and lots of properties for rental around Bedoin and as Jacques says, it's a lovely little town, probably our favourite in France.

Hello Cherry and John, do let us know when you will be in Bedoin in May. We will probably be in Bedoin some time in late May, and it would be lovely to meet you.

Hello Jacques

I didn't know about 'Les Hauts de Bélézy' - it sounds interesting. Is there a website you could recommend or point me to that would provide more information. We're always interested in other naturist-friendly accommodation, apart from using our motorhome. From what you have written, it sounds as though nudity is perfectly acceptable outside in the garden if one of the properties is rented?

Thanks in advance
Mike

"Les Hauts de Bélézy" is a development of holiday cottages (known as "bastidons") in a wooded setting of 15 acres. It is totally naturist - you can be nude everywhere, in your cottage, in its garden, on the paths and driveways, in the car park. The development has its own gate leading into Bélézy - but this is the only link with Belezy; the cottages are owned by individuals (mostly French, German, Dutch and Belgian), and the development is not in any way linked financially with Bélézy.
Many owners let their cottages out when they are not using them. You may find a number of them by googling "Les Hauts de Belezy". Other owners go through two sites, one of them http://www.leshautsdebelezy.fr and the other one http://www.belezy.eu . I know some people who used the latter one, and were quite satisfied with the service provided. I do not know much about the other site, but I'm sure it's ok.

Jacques

That is fascinating - thank you for the information and the insight. I had no idea such a development existed at Bélézy.

I assume there is a daily, weekly or seasonal fee to pay to access Bélézy naturist resort from Les Hauts de Bélézy?

I have had a quick look at the two websites, but will spend a little longer reviewing them carefully.

Once again, very much appreciate you telling me about the naturist housing, which sounds lovely. I can understand why it is the ideal arrangement for you.

Mike

Yes, you have to pay a fee to get into Belezy itself. The cost  is 18 euros per person per day or 68 euros per person per week in high season (11.50 and 54 in Spring and Autumn), with another price for children, and a discount price per family un to 5 people (parents or grand-parents + children + children's friends holidaying with the family).
You can see a few views of "Les Hauts de Bélézy" in my album in Media Centre: my album is entitled "jacques", and the most typical photos are "The view from our terrace in Provence", "time for aperitif", and "time for aperitif (again)".

Again, thank you for that information Jacques!

And your property looks delightful.

Do you know of any other residential naturist communities like Les Hauts de Bélézy in France? I'm familiar with many of the holiday resorts, but didn't know about your development at Bedoin.

Best wishes
Mike

There is another naturist development at Port-Leucate on the Mediterranean coast on the way to Spain. The "village naturist" covers over 100 acres and is composed of a camping site, plus eight different developments. See http://leucate.sitego.fr/english.html (in English) or http://natu.jgana.fr/leucate.htm (only in French).
A video on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBhpCBG4scw gives a quick view of the developments there. Les Hauts de Bélézy is fairly different, less flat (it is situation on the slopes of Mont-Ventoux), with more trees, and cars have to be parked on the outskirts of the development.
At Port-Leucate too, some owners let out their houses. See for instance http://www.vacance-aphrodite.eu/ or http://www.location-vacances-naturistes.com . http://www.navilia.fr/naturisme-l1.php seems to be an estate agent with lots of naturist flats or houses to sell in the naturist zone.

Great links Jacques. We stayed at Aphrodite about 15 or more years ago, but I think there's been a significant amount of additional development around the naturist zone since then.
