I don't know if any members are thinking of travelling to Kefalonia this year but if you are you may like to look at the link below regarding the recent earthquakes.  I haven't seen any reports on the UK TV although there is wide coverage of the disaster on the Greek channels.  Thankfully, it seems there was no loss of life and the damage, whilst bad, does not appear to have been as severe as it could have been, probably because of the strict building regulations imposed following the disaster of the 1953 quake.

Some scary pictures there Peter. I'd read about the quake, but only seen one photo previously - the one at the quayside. Thanks for posting the link.

So sad to see more bad news for the Greeks . I had a week on the island in my pre naturist days . What a wonderful place . Beautiful scenery and truly friendly people . Lets hope they can get back on their feet quickly .

A planned life can only be endured .

My cynical self is wondering which corporate holiday body was responsible for suppressing the news in the British press.
More seriously, I am pleased that there was apparently no loss of life and relatively little injury and hope that the other losses can be soon rectified.

I have anchored off Port Leone, a village that has been deserted since the 1953 quake. The only thing left is the church which is still used on a Sunday morning, all the remaining parishaners arriving for the service by boat. Can't remember if it is on Kastos or Kalamos but it's a lovely quiet anchorage.

I was saddened to learn of the earthquakes in the Kefalonia, but glad that most people were able to escape without serious injury. I’ve been to Kefalonia and it’s a lovely island with friendly people.

I don’t know how I missed this news, but it was actually reported in the British Press, though seemingly not enough:

I’ll have to think seriously about returning to Kefalonia as I expect the Kefalonians will want more tourists when they’ve completed their repairs.

Naturism is possible on Kefalonia, e.g.:

Boats like these are available for hire and great fun:

It appears that Thomson [other companies are available too] still organise SCUBA excursions, even some suitable for beginners, so even more fun:
