Sorry AJ I live in Essex and have heard only poor reports about St Osyth so have never actually been. My "local" being in the south of Essex its not much further is Leysdown on the isle of sheppy in Kent.

Thanks for this - actually i decided to take the plunge and find out for myself today - so here is my views / report

1) TAKE GOOD SHOES - The shingle is hard to walk on and it is a fair walk

2) THERE ARE NO SIGNS TO SIGNAL START OF AREA - i probably walked to far as i kept going until i saw more naked flesh

3) IT WAS ALL MEN THERE -  maybe just the time of the week / day -

4) I PICKED A SPOT BETWEEN 2 OTHER NATURISTS -  great - i must say i tried to follow the code and give space - others walking by did the same - however .....

5) The man on the right kept standing up and doing a meerkat impression - together with playing with his penis to keep it semi erect

6) other men going by were obviously not naturally looking that way below the waste - this did make me feel a bit uncomfortable - not that i am size conscious - but me being in natural state - was obvious I was the only one

7) I saw a lot of other rmen further up - so before leaving i decided to walk right up as far as i could go ( still naked) and look - there were loads of men hidden in  long grass - not totally hidden - but not exactly just laying there for the sun i got the impression - again no one bothered me or spoke to me - but i did just want to turn around and walk back

8) Overall - i was not bothered or spoken to but maybe i was just unlucky with timing and all women had left - or maybe the rumours are true and they dont come at all

Anyway - I live in Brentwood - so I agree maybe the other side of the tunnel is no further to go - Have you been to Leysdown - I was thinking of going there myself when we next get a sunny day - I need a beach that is for naturists where i can feel comfortable

The above points are just my own feelings and observations folks  [smiley=lol.gif] [smiley=lol.gif]

Thanks for the update and sorry to hear it was not that good an experience.
Leysdown should be a lot better. I've been going for nearly 20 years - but only get there about 6 times a summer. It's easy to get to as long as you have reasonable clearance on your car as the road is unmade. Once there park right behind the beach.
Yes there are far more men than women, especially on a week day. Behavior is generally good - folk will walk about but thats ok in my book, I don't notice much overt behavior. I find it friendly and  you can chat with other beach users. Hope to meet you there one day.

I last visited St Osyth with my partner in August 2009.  The weather was great and the beach was pleasant.  However is was spoilt by a voyeur lurking close by.  So much so that we had to move so we could feel relaxed and enjoy the beach.

I have visited St Osyth on two occasions, I had no trouble at all, there again it's difficult to be offended by yourself, I was the only one there both times.

I have been to St Osyth beach several times over a twenty year period and have found that you do seem to get pests(of the human type)coming along to watch. Before the road got washed away it was great being able to drive onto the beach and walk naked from your car.Even then though you'd get drivers driving onto the beach park at the back and just watch. Some would get out of their cars and just stand by them. Some drivers didnt even stop their engines even then i couldnt imagine what they thought they'd be seeing..lol.
After a gap of a few years Ginny(my new girlfriend)and i went to the same beach and again it had the same kind of folk on it,mainly all men and some walked about clothed. The thing these people dont realise is it is they that look stupid hiding in the dunes and they who look pervy walking around fully clothed. In all my visits i have never seen anything remotely sexual going on.I suppose most couples go elsewhere but you have to realise to that alot of beaches in the UK tend to be frequented by men as most women aren't interested or they haven't the nerve to strip off.I like St.Osyth beach because its remote quiet and big which tends to spread out the different kind of sun worshippers. The trick about St Osyth is not minding who's looking  ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Well after a dodgy couple of days wondering what we might do (naked) on Ginny's day off we looked at the forcast and decided to head for the beach and what a fun packed day we had.We left with clouds still overhead and the sun trying to peep out and as we got to the coast the clouds dissapeared. After clambering over the rocks and pebbles we started walking towards the naturist section. After stripping off we went all the way to the end of the beach where it becomes a no entry nature reserve.Turning back we walked along the beach passing a guy in the dunes with a ladies wig on,venturing on further still we came across a elderly gentleman sporting a rather fetching flowery frock,we later when leaving saw another guy wearing a ballet tu tu.Being opened minded it didnt bother us..but for gawd sake the temperature was hitting 80 degrees in the shade.Anyway we ventured on found a spot and settled down. After a while it was time for a dip as we needed to cool down after all that walking and for once after getting in,it was quite nice.On returning to our towels the storm flies flew in forcing us to move again and again. After another 3 hours it was time to head home.We stopped for refreshments and the Sailor Boy holiday cafe and left just as the clouds drew in.Driving back the heavens opened thunder and lighning torrents of water everywhere and we were left wondering what happened to the interesting characters we saw on the beach. After all,we thought naturist beaches were for taking everything off rather than dressing up and putting everything on.
Despite all this we will still be going againย  ๐Ÿ™‚

I agree - if your not bothered then I guess you are OK going - I found on my walk back the naturist section started a lot earlier then i had wandered and i am guessing that the pests were maybe all at the other end - reading about the dress code described - maybe I am right ๐Ÿ™‚

I used to go to St. Osyth regularly when you could still drive all the way up to the area behind the beach. It was OK then, with a good mix of both sexes (BTW, I'm a single male) and I used to meet some regular friends there of both sexes.
I've only been back 3 or 4 times in the last 3 years, and the reports above are fairly accurate, mainly single men looking for other men or just gawping. You do get a lot of voyeurs from the local Hutley's caravan park who walk along the sea wall (with their mandatory Tesco carrier bags), and snigger at the 'nuddies'.

I've given up on St. Osyth,ย  :'( and now I go to Leysdown. It's about the same distance from where I live (Billericay) to either.

I live within 10 miles of St Osyth, and the last time I went there was about 5 years ago.
Just before the road was washed away I was there with my wife, and if I remember correctly, it was during the school holidays as I remember there were several children about and the ice cream van had arrived. I queued up at the van behind some children and remember noticing a windbreak as I approached the van.
After I was served I turned around to go back to where my wife was (closer to the sea), andย  passed the wind break. This time I could see two men behind it, one was giving hand relief to the other, and anyone over 4ft tall could see what was going on! That is why I have only been back once since, and that time I went alone just for the afternoon. I didn't see a repeat performance, but I did feel uncomfortable as there was only one woman in the vicinity who was accompanied by a man, but seemed to enjoy the fact that she was drawing the attention of nearly every male by fondling his penis!
As I said, I havn't been there for about 5 years, and that is why.

It seems that Leysdown is a much better bet all round - shame that Essex folk have to travel when we have our own naturist beach - but as so many have said From Brentwood wheree I am its is not that much further - just ยฃ3 return for the Dartford tolls extra ๐Ÿ™‚

Just a thought but if more "normal" nudists frequent St Osyth the offensive behavour might be overwhelmed and gradually extinguished.

This is  a fair point I guess - maybe it needs a St Osyth group so we can all go in numbers and be safe and have a relaxing fun day ???

And No i am useless at organising before anyone says " well go on then"
