In you travel to Montalivet in Gironde there are two super beaches that front the naturist resorts of Eurinat and CHM. In peak season there are 40000 naturists. Fabulous beaches and family orientated. Mainly French extended families with some Dutch and Germans. Very few Bruts
The beaches in that area were badly damaged by the storms this Winter - just as in the West Country in England.

Oh dear - that looks like an awful lot of damage. I hadn't realised the west coast of France had suffered so much. Thanks for posting the link Jacques.

We plan to go to Euronat in May, for 3 weeks 8)
If you can't say something nice - do not say anything at all 🙂

We'll be there for a fortnight in July.
Perhaps you will post a beach report but I'm afraid the café-restaurant at the south beach will have had it.

Just a mention that anyone planning to visit the campsite CHM Monta should take a look at the ACSI Card website (www.campingcard.co.uk) as the site accepts the ASCI card between the following dates: 29/03 - 05/07 and again from 23/08 - 28/09. This will save you three euros per night for a pitch with electricity, but an additional 5 euros per night if you plan to take your dog. A saving worth having, though!

Camping Cheques are another alternative for saving money (though not quite as flexible as ACSI) at CHM Montalivet:
Accepted from 29/03/2014 to 05/07/2014; and from 23/08/2014 to 27/09/2014
http://www.campingcheque.com/france/aquitaine/chm-montalivet-c1165.html
Camping Cheques can also save money off-season at Euronat:
from 05/04/2014 to 30/04/2014; and from 30/09/2014 to 02/11/2014
http://www.campingcheque.com/france/aquitaine/euronat-c549.html
The cheques cost €16 Euro (or £15 GBP) per night for pitch for two people and electric hook-up.

And Camping Cheques and ACSI Card can be used at several other naturist sites in France and Europe.

We are booked to be at Euronat for two weeks in August. Would very much appreciate a beach report in May & July.

As they receded, the dunes in Montalivete bared large quantities of WWII shells and anti-tank mines stored there by the Germans: http://aquitaine.france3.fr/2014/01/20/pres-de-80-mines-et-obus-decouverts-sur-la-plage-de-montalivet-en-gironde-398753.html
The body was also washed ashore on the beach of Montalivet of a man who had disappeared in Ribadeo, in the North-West corner of Spain; See http://www.sudouest.fr/2014/02/25/montalivet-33-le-corps-sans-vie-retrouve-sur-la-plage-identifie-1472977-3212.php#xtor=RSS-10521769
Hadn't realised that the storms had hit this region, but when you see how close the full tide advances to the dunes/cliffs at Euronat, it's easy to imagine the damage that could be wrought by bad weather. Hopefully there hasn't any long term damage and what has been done won't cost a fortune to put right; looking forward to returning for third consecutive visit this August.
Has anyone been to Montalivet plage recently. I was wondering which parts of the coast are still clothes optional. Obviously the beaches below CHM and Euronat are but what about the rest.
I went to Montalivet 14 years ago and stayed at Soleil D'or campsite. Crossing the road from there and going onto the beach, immediately to the right there was a sign stating naturism was allowed.
Last time I went last summer I didn't go to this side of the coast but walked on towards CHM. I'm not sure if it was my memory but it seems to take much much longer to get to the naturist section. Also the beach along this streach seemed very damaged and untended. Whats going on in Montalivet, berceau du naturisme?

Evening all, during the holiday season the local authority does clean up the beaches from the winter weather which brings in all kings of debris.Mrs goldi and I have been to this area in march so have seen to what amounts to what is basically plastic pollution of the seas norm

Hi I was staying at Montalivet at the end of August for 2 weeks. I was chatting to some regulars at the beach and the beach has become quite shallow of recent years meaning that high tide there is very little beach left. this is because the mayor of Montalivet les bains wanted more sand in front of the town and took the beach in front of chm. work that out!!! The naturist section is in front of CHM and at Euronat. the town is non naturist as is the beach in front of club atlantic camping. It was our first naturist camping holiday and why didn't i do it before? i loved it so much.
