I wonder if anyone can help. I have recently been on holiday and would like to upload photos taken on my Samsung S4 onto my laptop running Windows 7. I am a compete technophobe and would appreciate a some very basic instructions. I have managed to do this in the past but it was using a different phone, and version of windows.

                      Thanks in anticipation.

There are a couple of ways as far as I know, although others may know a different method.

1. If the charger/connector has a USB connection, if you plug that in it should recognise the device and open a box on the screen asking if you want to download photos.

2. Alternatively, if you download "Dropbox" to the pc and phone, you can easily upload pictures from the phone to dropbox and these would then be automatically be sent to the pc providing wifi is available for both devises.

As I say, others may have a better method, but these tow work for me.

The USB cable is simplest but alternatively...

Assuming that both the PC and S4 are on Wifi: Download "ES File Explorer File Manage" from the Play Store on to the S4. Create a share on your Windows PC then with ES File Explorer you can drag and drop files to and from your PC.

(ES File Explorer has been downloaded 3 million times)

I'd go for a USB to micro usb Pantherman as you are a self confessed technospaz.

Your pc should recognise your phone as an external drive and you will have to confirm on your phone it is connecting as a storage device.

You can then go through the various folders and copy and paste them to your pc, assuming you know how to do that.

Your photos can be on either your phones internal memory or on an external sd card if fitted.
You will have to find a folder that is marked DCIM and you will find your photos.

Best I can do and hope it helps and is of some use 😉

because its a Samsung, you will probably have to download Samsung kies, I had to with my s3. or alternatively get a micro sd adapter and just take the card out of the phone and put it into the adapter then into the pc

Thankyou for your solutions I will have a play, and hopefully put the results in the chat room.

You do not need to download Kies and for what's it worth I would not bother.
Yes could take sd card out and read that but will depend if you have you phone settings so photos are saved to external sd card and not internal memory.
