Yesterday I managed to have a quick unplanned skinny dip at Bagworthy Water. We stopped at Malmsmead, walked along the river and found a very nice spot about 5-10 mins from the bridge at Malmsmead. Very nice spot to cool off and it was shaded from the sun as well.
Excellent! I've been skinny dipping there this year too 😀 8) The place was Badgworthy pool...coming from Malmsmead after you enter the trees in the glade which feels ideal for picnicing. I walked down Lank Combe and then ate my lunch and swam in the frigid but refreshing water before heading north through Doone Country and up through Southern Wood. Fantastic walk. One i'll be repeating more. About 8 miles around from my start point at Dry Bridges. I recommend this walk to all nudey hikers who want a fab skinny dip half way around.

Simon, looks like a good walk there, we will have to try that next time we go that way.
It sounds like you swam in the same place as me but you refer to Badgworthy Pool which according to the web is further on? Checking the OS map my dip was about SS794471 which is only a small spot. Badgworthy Pool according to the web is around SS793454? Thanks
There's actually two spots...the first is where the river is wider before you enter the trees coming from the campsite end. The second which I took to be Badgworthy Pool is in the middle of the trees at the clearing. Further upstream i haven't investigated closely but next time I walk down Lank Combe I'll turn RIGHT at the bottom and go wandering south and then around Badgworthy Hill...there might be a better spot in that direction. The wild swimming website that i looked at didn't have exact coordinates so i'm just guessing given the vague directions i wrote down.
Whatever....it was a great walk and Badgworthy is a lovely stretch of quiet water made for skinny dipping!
