Hi all - not sure if this is the right forum so apologies if not.

Generally speaking, is there any kind of etiquette when it comes to footwear as a naturist?  When out walking for example, is it normal to wear something on your feet or do a lot of you find yourselves going barefoot?  And what about visiting a fellow naturist, say if you are a guest.  Would you wear something on your feet and remove them on arrival or not wear anything at all?

Thanks!

I think the general opinion would be to wear what's comfortable and practical.  In the house it's barefoot. Outside it really depends how much confidence you have that you won't step on something sharp.

Outdoors beach shoes seem most sensible, being lightweight. I know some serious hikers go with walking boots and socks but I'm sorry - I just fond that look comical 🙂

I actually hate being barefoot on grass and I was worried I'd stand out. The whole point of naturism is to be comfortable and everyone accepts this, so I've now realised I can do what I want. I go for sandals if there's no chance of me needing to run, and lace up trainers otherwise.

Good heavens, outside generally I cannot envisage not wearing something on my feet, even if it is only flip flops walking on a beach. Generally, I prefer to be safe than sorry, and there is a risk of stepping on something sharp or nasty that can't always be seen until it is too late, aside from ending up with pretty revolting feet. There should be no silly hang ups about non existent etiquette which should make no difference anyway. If I ever walked naked in the North York Moors I would want good walking shoes or sandals on, and I wouldn't care how silly I looked.

Me ..barefoot as much as possible in fact if i dint have to ware shoes/boots i wouldn't any more love the feel of whats underneath my feet wet or dry smooth or stony surface some think im mad lol.

Its also reported that walking barefoot is actuality good for you ok it takes a little while for the soles to harden up and i wouldn't recommend going for a 5 mile walk straight off ..... oh and the one thing that they don't do is ware the soles out lol !

I think it depends on you and how sensitive your feet are 🙂  For me who hasn't been outdoor much unless I'm walking on grass I cant handle anything else, so tend to wear a good comfy pair of walking shoes if I'm out and about.

Each to their own preference really.  I've tried and I'm jumping around screeching like a little girl with pain every time heheeh  :-*

I usually always wear hiking boots when walking nude in the woods and funnily enough I find that wearing a good sturdy pair of boots actually enhances my feeling of nudity! Difficult to explain why though!

I would feel quite ridiculous wearing hiking boots and nothing else, I generally wear sandals when I am walking nude, as little as is necessary to protect my feet.

I have some Keen walking sandals.
I'd go barefoot as much as possible but in some countries the ground is just too hot to bear.
I walked miles in them in Croatia very comfy with no rubbing anywhere unlike previous other expensive ones.
Only thing I wore apart from a smile lol for a week in Cap D'Agde

hiking boots are must if traversing climbing in the mountains - mainly for grip - is not comical it is a matter of safety first. I always have both (boots and sandals)  which I change as and when required.

For some parts of mountains, I agree, but not always as I do remember going up the miners track on Snowdon (I had no intention of going all the way just as far as Glas Lyn) in my sandals, and my companion saying that they were maybe not the most suitable footwear. I answered maybe not and took them off walking barefoot for the rest of the way demonstrating that is was both possible and not neccesarily uncomfortable or dangerous.

To be fair last time I climbed Snowdon, and that was a couple of weeks ago I was wearing walking boots, but I was not nude either.

I always wear shoes as recommended by my chiropodist to help correct my gait when walking more than a few yards at a time around the house. Then I can manage barefoot or with slippers without too much difficulty.
Like djks108, I always feel more naked when wearing shoes alone, and if other people think it is funny, sobeit, I have just brightened someone else's day!

It depends on what you need. Usually in the summer I wear walking sandals. On rough ground I wear boots, and depending on how rough the ground is, or how muddy and wet its likely to be which pair. I've got a pair of three season boots and another pair of Scarpa four season ones. Horses for courses really.
