the facilities seem good to me and with free tea and biccies every day,an outdoor pool and tennis courts as well as several areas to camp,all for £7-50 per day per tent (not per person) seems very good value

what a great plac Wrekin View is.we have just returned after spending 4 nights camping there.the site is a little gem.5 acres surrounded by woodland about 5 miles outside market drayton.if you are looking to escape for a relaxing break you could do no better in my view.Ok it doesnt have a bar and it is not the bussiest place in the world,the membership here is quite limited to the over 50s or to be really honest the over 60s but it does have some younger visitors as i witnessed last week,though it may not be the best place to bring younger children unless they have some brothers/sisters/friends of the same age group with them,saying this they would bound to enjoy the woodland and wildlife that habit the site which incluse resident pheasants,rabbits,a woodpecker and badger too.there is a 4ft deep and safe swimming pool,tennis court and boules court.woodland walk,and various spots throughout the site to pitch a tent  and also various spots to pull in your caravan/campervan.the whole of the grounds are landscaped and gardened to a very high standard.the shower facilities were spotless as was the games room with pool table and the main clubhouse/meeting house which doubles up as kitchen/dinner area,also spotless.the dining area has a woodburning stove so if its chilly you can light a fire as we did on 2 nights.evry day at 11 a bell rings and tea and biscuits are served here too.in fact the kitchen area is fully fitted with all cooking utensils as well as fridges and microwave so there is no need to bring any of this with you.
there are tea towels,cloths etc too all changed regularly and tea and coffe are completely free to help yourslelves to anytime.
we were welcomed to the site by everyone we met and it seems everyone is friendly and genuine,many have been coming here for over 30 years and there are some genuinly lovely characters to be met.
i absolutely recommend this site whether you are looking for a short mini-break or longer.the surrounding countryside and villages are steeped in history and there are superb day trips to be had locally as well as canals which seem to be well kept in this area.
and finally the cost of camping is £7 a night per tent,(not per person),this is ridiculasly cheap,less than £50 week for a family holida.when leaving we spoke with some of the management/commitee aqbout their low charges and they said this was to encourage people to come back but i tolld them it really is far to cheap and they said everyone says this.

we will be returning many times in future as this place has the most relaxing and friendly vibe about it.ladyfriend,baby Dylan and I are big fans. 🙂

Just back from Wrekin View and can confirm most of what Mistereman said above on a different visit (albeit a couple of days later!)

This is a very friendly club, and it is in a very peaceful and idyllic setting.  Good turn out of members and guests at the weekend, but down to me and one couple on site on the Monday.  If you like peace it is ideal.

Average members age into 60s I would expect, but there were 2 couples in their 40s at the weekend, but no sign of children.

I will go back next spring/summer and try it again, as weather was hopeless when I was there.  Membership very reasonable (under £50 if I remember right) and I would consider that too as it appears a well run club.

Hi Misterman and Dave, thank you for all the positive comments about your recent visit, so pleased that you enjoyed your short holidays at Wrekin View, we hope to see you again.
This is the first year that we have used the internet to let others know about what we have to offer and wish to share with others.
Several couples have visited,been delighted with what they found and asked if they could join.
A large amount of play equipment and a wooden Wendy house have been provided to attract children plus a shelter where parents can sit while supervising their children.
Re comments about low charges. It is a members club so all that we need to do is to ensure that we can cover all expenses, Don't be put off because you think it is too cheap.
Another N C member has already booked a camp site for September based on the recomendations on this forum

Sorry, pets are not allowed at Wrekin View.
Motorhomes up to about 26ft can access the site but it would not be possible with a large RV.
There are 4 hook ups in the area used for caravans and motorhomes
We do allow solo campers except where they are married or in a long term partnership.
Advanced booking is required but can be at short notice by phone or email. Bookings preferred at weekends when we can be sure that members are on site.

Hi let me clarify my last post. We do allow people who are on their own to visit Wrekin View also camp and a proportion of the club members are what is generally called singles.

The long standing restriction/rule is that members who have joined as a couple should attend as a couple whenever possible plus there is a reluctance to accept visits from one person of a known long term partnership to avoid problems within that partnership that could involve the club.

Wrekin View is now open for visitors and potential new members following a long cold winter.
Our first hardy camping visitors for 2011 from Lincolnshire have already made a booking for a couple of days towards the end of the month, let’s hope we get a nice sunny spring weekend.
Members will be busy this weekend tidying up the 5 acre site, always plenty to do during the first few weeks to return the club to the high standard that members and visitors enjoy. Many hands make light and enjoyable work.
We look forward to return visits from those members of NC who spent time at “Crin” Last year and those who arrive for the first time as either visitors or potential new members.
Several small trees have been removed from the touring caravan area to make it easier to site your van and additional electric points are being installed for campers.

Thanks rayb, I did get a nice email from big Ed and shall hopefully be visiting you later in the year, I'm no longer such a hardy soul as your Lincolnshire guests, it's going to have to get a little warmer for me I'm afraid.

I would like to update the very good reports from two NC members who enjoyed their visits to Wrekin View last year.
There were very accurate reports about the age group of most members, but I am pleased to report that following the use of a very very successful Internet site, there are now a number of younger and more active members enjoying the club and making a valuable contribution to maintaining and improving the site.
Apologies to those who may have struggled to find camping sites during the recent holiday period, we could have accommodated a couple of vans and half a dozen tents. Reservations are being made for the next couple of months.
Lets hope this warm weather continues.

It was a pleasure to welcome another NC member who camped at the club for the first time this weekend and look forward to his next visit.
Weather could have been better, rather windy and dull at times. We can arrange the welcome , but hot sunny weather is the one thing we can't fix.

Work was completed on the swimming pool, following Winter damage, just waiting for paint to dry and cure then start to fill next weekend.

We look forward to sharing our  site with other NC members.

I was the NC member who visited this weekend. I have to thank RayB and all the Wrekin View members for a very warm welcome, and congratulate them on a lovely site. As mentioned above the weather wasn't kind this weekend but the warmth of the members made up for the lack of sun.
I will definitely be back for more and can recommend this site to anyone looking for a pretty, small site with plenty to do if you want to join in, or plenty of seclusion if you don't.
