Is there any naturist campsite in the UK which backs onto a naturist beach?

If not - why not!!!

Would the closest to this be Mofra? TS

Hi Taddiford Swimmer.

The only one that I know of is Tything Barn, which is on an estuary. It is mud and vegetation though!
Most campers who want a dip will swim in the lagoons which are also part of the site.

Morfa Dyffryn Beach and "Benar Beach campsite" are about a mile apart.

Manor farm at Strete is also about a mile away from the naturist bit of the beach.

The campsite at Downderry is a few hundred yards from the beach used by naturists.

In conclusion, I don't think that there is one that backs onto a naturist "beach" with sand, unless anybody knows different.

I saw a naturist camping at Sandwood Bay in Scotland a few years back. There is no campsite there as such (i.e no facilities of any kind) and the bay is about a 3 mile walk from the nearest road, but it is a place where you can camp directly behind the beach and a fantastic setting.

It seems it has been voted into the top 50 beaches in the world! http://www.scotclans.com/bletherskite/?tag=sandwood-bay

That's about as far as you can get from Milford on Sea on the UK mainland !Ā  Fantastic setting and popular with surfers too, apparently.

Unusually good surfing at the tip of Scotland, from Cape Wrath area, (when the Navy aren't shelling), all along to Thurso, had some great times there in my younger days.

For wild camping I've always liked Knoydart, you can pick your beach and more or less guarantee seclusion.

Of amberambler's suggestions I can recommend Manor Farm/Slapton, an easy walk downhill to the beach. Yes, it's uphill on the way back but someone has thoughtfully provided a pub at the halfway mark.  šŸ™‚

Perhaps somehwere in northern France might be an option.
Since I live only 20 miles from either Poole or Portsmouth ferry ports, does anyone know where the nearest French naturist camp site backing onto a naturist beach would be. Something like Euronat but in Normandy or Brittany? TS

Would have thought there'd be something down the west side of the Cherbourg peninsular. Try posting on theĀ  UK Campsite Forum http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_forum_topics.asp?ForumID=7 which is used by a lot of knowledgeable naturist campers.

Good idea. In fact Gw has just replied on another thread with a link to some highly recommended site. One is just 8 miles from St Malo and the coast. Will have a look in my book for the nearest naturist beach. It's only 20 miles to Poole and the St Malo ferry so a very nice cycling trip might be possible.

and this official beach perhaps

If you are venturing just across the channel can I suggest the official list of French camp sites.
It is search-able both geographically and by site characteristics, one of which is naturism.

Indeed - the Camping France site covers everything, but it seems to have been 'improved' recently and doesn't seem as easy to browse now.

Having said that, it just took me about ten seconds to find the 'naturisme' tick box - b*ggered if I could find that when i looked last night!

In the U.K., Lakeland Outdoor Club near Millom in Cumbria is adjacent to the beach but the beach, itself, is non-naturist, although it can be used as a naturist beach with discretion (at least it could when I visited many years ago).

Agree with Jsun - it's a few years since we visited also, but the beach is very remote and, as said, although not official, should present no problems.
