Hi, I've just joined the group and look forward to chatting with you and maybe meeting you in due course - thanks for your welcome so far!
When did I start going naked? Some b&w pics of me as a toddler show that my desire to go naked goes back a long way lol.
Time passed and so did the innocence I guess - I grew up in a family that was very reserved, and that stuck for me too at least in front of other people. As a boy I was often naked at home in my bedroom, and still am naked as much as I can be at home, but going naked outdoors occasionally broke out with friends when the weather was hot and we fancied a skinny dip but it wasn't something that happened with "grown-ups".
Once married, my wife and I found ourselves with a garden that wasn't overlooked by neighbours - and the chance to get an all over tan was too much for me to resist!
More skinny dipping followed, and the special pleasure of swimming naked in the sea...
Now I'm wanting to go for it and enjoy more fully the freedom and openness that I've caught a glimpse of by being nude with other people.  I have some nerves and anxiety about going for it but that's been my reaction in the past before making decisions that I've not regretted afterwards...and I'm hopeful becoming the naturist I think I may have been all along will have the same happy outcome lol.
Anyway, I look forward to learning a lot more, and to meeting you.
Cheers,
Jack

Best wishes for your first forays into social naturism.

Welcome Jack.

it may be too soon for you, but there is a Naturist swim in Southampton this Saturday, and I (and I suspect a few others) hope to be there.

All the details are on the BN web site and I'm sure that if you attend you will find that that anxiety disappears in an instant and you'll have taken the next step.

Whether you do or not, welcome to naturism and I hope you enjoy it for many years to come.

I have never been to a naturist swim (even though the idea appeals to me) for two reasons.
Firstly I cant swim, secondly when I read about swims I also find comments like the quote above and others in a similar vein.
People say things like I hope to be there or I will try to get there, this always leaves me the fear that I will be the only one that turns up.
This may well be an unfounded fear but I could not face being the only nude person in a swimming pool surrounded by clothed life guards.

You may find someone who goes to the swim you want to go to on here. They may even offer to meet you at the door or in the car park before you go in. At least there will be two of you.  lol

There are others on here saying they are going, so ask the question or search for posts southampton swim. have a good day we have a lady who comes to Spectrum who can't swim and she is gradually getting over her fear of water each week. it is good to see. we also have a stroke victim that uses the float aids to swim in the shallow end. there will be loads i am sure.

There is no need to worry about not being able to swim.
There are usually about half the people there standing around in the shallow end chatting and there is usually a sauna or steam room.
Both of the rooms are great for relaxing and chatting so you won't be left out of things for more than the first fifteen seconds.
