Last year was my 50th year, and I decided that I would do at least one thing I had never done before, before the end of the year and every year thereafter. I had been curious about naturism for a long time, but never had the body confidence to do anything about it. Usual prudish and old fashioned up bringing and lack of self confidence.
Anyway, in the preceding couple of years I had got into running in a big way - lost a lot of weight and suddenly began to feel different and more positive about myself. We started looking for a break in late summer, and having been to Corralejo before, and knowing that naturism was a possibility, we booked for a week in October.
We booked a really good spa hotel, and on the first day headed off to the Riu beaches, on a courtesy bus, that we knew from previous visits and research were known for nude bathing.
I knew what I wanted to do, but taking that first step was really odd. We made for the naturist area, got two sun beds and got settled.
Then the nerves kicked in. Should I, shouldn't I?
My wife didn't want to go completely naked, and looking around we weren't the only couple with that mind set.
It probably took me about half an hour before I took my shorts off.
After another few minutes of worrying whether my mind may start playing tricks with a certain part of my anatomy, I stopped worrying.
I spent a good time on the sunbed just getting used to it, before plucking up the courage to head the short distance down the beach and into the sea. Well, everything I had read was true - it was amazing, felt totally different and totally liberating. No one batted an eye lid, I felt utterly comfortable and even went for a walk along the beach a few times to just get used to it. I spent the rest of the week naked, and don't envisage wearing clothes on a beach again unless absolutely necessary.
I did see one or two sights of folk 'together', and couples wandering in and out of the dunes nearby, but hey, it is what it is. No one paid any attention to that either, as far as I saw.
My wife feels slightly differently, and chooses not to go fully naked yet.
Interesting that we got talking to other couples on the bus who were at the resort for the same reason, and the only surprise out of it all is that I had never actually met a naturist before that time.
Well, that's my first time, and it won't be the last.
Can't wait for October again.

Not wanting to sound like there local rep, but you may want to try Gran Hotel Natura in Corralejo [if your wife feels inclined to try naturism] . It was my first fully naturist holiday in November 2013 [followed by April 2014, November 2014 & April 2015 - November 2015 not booked yet]
Also there's Infiniti which has villas [not been there but those who have rate in highly]

I really should have been born on a tropical island
