I suppose my first real naturist experience was when I moved to Devon from the Midlands almost 40 years ago. I had, as a teenager, previously walked about in woods nearby naked, but never ever encountering anyone.
However, having a long stretch of beach, backed by dunes, and hot weather, I couldn't resist the temptation to strip off and go in the sea, and to my surprise, realised that there was a couple in close proximity who were as naked as I was.
They, being a little older, were more relaxed about it, but spoke to me, and I soon found myself at ease with other nude bodies about.
Over the next couple of days I encountered them again, and learned about the etiquette of naturism.
This lead me to join the now defunct North Devon Club, and started my love of naturism

In the south of the county, apart from Budleigh, there is Petitor, at Torquay, as well as Slapton, and in the north Saunton (with care) and Wild Pear, near Combe Martin.
Check out the NUFF site for updates on all beaches.

Don't know about a Plymouth swim, but there is one at Totnes, contact the Torbay Sunclub for more info.
