A lot of my oldest friends are not surprised I've embraced naturism.
A few of them have actually said they're surprised it took me so long!
My first nude experience came when I was 24 and happened 6 months after I started dating my partner David.
He's been a naturist for 30-odd years (there's an age difference between us) and had been very open about his naturism from pretty much the first time we had met.
We have a long-distance relationship, work keeping him in the USA and me in the UK (although that will change by the end of the year when he moves here). So we keep in touch via Skype almost every day. A few times in those early dating days I knew he was naked when we Skyped, but it was simply because he was having a nude day at home.
I started asking him lots of questions about naturism and he was always happy to chat about it. We'd been dating for 6 months and I was due to fly out to the USA for 10 days - a mix of work and pleasure.
David arranged for our 5-day break together to be spent at Hippe Hollow, near Austin in Texas, which is a well-known naturist site but which doesn't get too busy.
I was excited and looking forward to it...but the nerves only hit when he revealed that he'd also invited 6 of his oldest naturist friends to join us too! It was one thing starting out on my naturist journey with David, but another doing it with David and three other couples I hardly knew.
But, David and his friends were fantastic. His friends were so relaxed, welcoming and above all funny (plus they embraced my "quirky" British sense of humour!) that by the end of the first day it felt the most natural thing in the world to be on a naked holiday with a bunch of people I'd known for less than 24 hours.
It also confirmed something David had been continually telling me - the naturist community is one of the best, friendliest, most laidback and enjoyable groups to be part of.
Its something I've got to know and appreciate over the last 4 years and with David settling in the UK with me soon we're hoping to develop our own circle of friends in this country too.

Great story and welcome to the club, how come so many of your friends thought you were already a nudist, almost nude pictures shared on holiday or just your attitude towards 'the naked body'

Hi and thank you.
A bit of both. I was always first to go topless on the beach...and just about anywhere I was sunbathing.
I was always happy to "try out" a nudist beach on holidays, but could never find anyone to join me!
I've been pretty confident about myself and how I look since my teens too, so I've never been particularly self-conscious.

It might have seemed slightly daunting when you discovered that your first naked holiday was going to involve people you didn't know, but as you discovered it all went very well. The more you do similar the more it should become 'normal' to meet new people when everyone is naked. Genuine naturists/nudists are mostly the most accepting of each other no matter what age, shape or size we are, we are simply ourselves when naked. We've met many new people at clubs and beaches where we're all naked from the beginning, some have become good friends, its a great way to meet people, we're ourselves, no confusing signals given out by clothing.

I hope you meet many more new people who share this liking for a great way of life.

Personally I've found that going nude around strangers to be easier than with existing friends. Glad to hear you enjoyed the experience at Hippie Hollow, sounds like a great place to spend a day.

I have the same feeling with regards to being naked. Feel much more self consience around people I already know. With strangers it just feels somehow easier which I feel is a bit strange but it is how I feel. Maybe its because alot of my friends dont get the naturist thing and are more judgemental

Like you I was always happy to "try out" a nudist beach on holidays, but could never find anyone to join me! I would nip off for the odd afternoon, but didn't want to be antisocial with my friends, so rarely stayed long. Then started at home, ventured into the garden, then a sauna on skiing holiday and then on to nudist beaches on holiday. I love it. The feeling of being so free and relaxed. Going again in just over 3 weeks. Can't wait. Welcome and enjoy!

What a great story DargonDuo. I wish I knew of nudist places in Texas when I was there for a few weeks many years ago. What is Stafford like from a nudist point of view? I pass there a lot, and knowing a place to meet with other nudists would certainly make the journey more enjoyable!
