I think the easy answer is to go just outside the town to the north or the south.

To the north - in the direction of the lighthouse - you soon come to the 'lagoons' beaches, which are sheltered and have lots of white sand. It won't be long before they become clothes-optional, with probably a mix of folk swimsuited and naked mixing freely. Probably gets more naturist as you head further north beyond the last apartments - El Caleton. There's also plenty of opportunity to strip off on the more remote beaches beyond the lighthouse, along the sandy track that branches off to the right before you get to the end of the road.

To the south of town is a big wild surfing beach. Just pick a quiet spot I'd suggest and you should be fine. I believe it's perfectly possible to walk along the beach in the buff, but you'd need to make your own judgement on that. And take care if you go in the sea there, it can be wild.

If J0hn GW spots this thread he'll have better advice because he's a regular visitor.

If you see Maravilla apartments , you can strip off just in front of them on the beach . JohnGw told us about them and we met up with him and his wife there for a holiday. The apartments are naturist friendly as well . As Mike was saying , a little further along are the lagoons and there are lots of naturists .THere is easy parking near Maravilla, also near El Caleton .

All the beaches around El Cotillo are naturist friendly and very tolerant so the message from me is to stick to your guns and just choose your spot!

Saying that however, I understand if some naturists want to head for areas where there's more of the same so as to feel more comfortable. In terms of where that's going to be in 2 weeks time, I suggest heading to the pointer marked on the map below taken from Google Earth. Park here and wander west to the beaches where there are lots of lovely little private stone circles and quiet areas next to gorgeous lagoons where the waves break 100m+ before the shoreline. Conditions may vary slightly depending on the wind direction...a north easterly (prevailing) is better than northerly. The tide times also affect how nice the lagoons are. Aim for 'slack time' around the time of high tide for a nice time with sea in its flatest state.

The beaches between the town and the marker are also really nice, but the marker and to the west was our favourite spot 3 weeks ago. The closer to you get to town the more swimsuits there will be. It's still holiday season so don't expect a massive proportion of naturists. In August it'll likely be 50/50 at best towards the lighthouse but just go, strip off and enjoy  8) HTH

Unfortunately in August there is an influx of textiles, otherwise ALL the beaches north of the village will have other naturists on them.
I am always naked on these beaches anyway.

Just back from Fuerte & spent 3 days at Cotillo. Simon's map was very useful - the parking spot is easy to find - just at top of the rise as you see the lighthouse & the road bends right, the parking is on the left. Easy walk to the beach from there [you can actually drive down quite close but it is bumpy]. First day I was there was very warm & only a very few people with any clothes on.

I have encountered totally textile beaches in that region.

Glad to see it didn't stop you John. When the weather wasn't great there were rather more people wearing clothes [still the minority though] - I think as they were locals and probably felt the chill more

I was on a nude walk at the time and had no clothing with me.

hi ,my fisrt post so here goes,this year we were lucky enough to visit fuerteventura twice,and i aggree with john it is becoming more textile,we had settled down for the day on the lagoons and i awoke to find noisy germanic folk all around me,i decided to stay my ground and eventually they moved on,on textile/nude i know a friend of mine who walks around the coast there to nearley the next village and back ,as he says in the early morn when no one is up,

I walk and cycle naked the whole of the coast from the village to the lighthouse.

It's a long walk carrying the stuff you need when away from the apartment - we stick to the lagoons between Cotillo Lagos and El Caleton.
