Our first time was in west Wales in 1979....30 years ago, when we went to a place called the old smithy. It was owned and run by Maurice and Joan Whyatt. I have talked about this place before but up to now I've never come across anyone who has been there. There was always lots of people going there at the time so if there is any one reading this who has been I would love to hear from them. Any one who has been there will know it was a lovely but rather "knocked up" kind of place where you would have the chickens wondering in and out of your caravan or tent and Maurice would just walk in without any cough or knock and did have some rather funny ways but for all that it turned out to be a wonderfull place. We looked on the owners has our very good friends and went there for the next ten years. Sadly its no longer there now, having been sold off quite a few years now. The nearest beach was Newgale and Maurice would take us there and think nothing of walking along the coastel path naked...much to the amusment of people coming towards us (we where clothed). Over the years we went we became more and more fond of the owners and the site and Maurice's shower would never have passed the health and safty with his big gas bottle, gas ring on bricks, and water pipe plus the order of lighting it. If you got it wrong you would end up with burnt eyebrows and burnt hair.!!! The first time we where there there was only one other family and I remember being really white with a sun burned face. I must have stood out. Much taned these days... If anyone reading this has memories of this place I would love to hear from them. Naturist64

I never stayed at the Old Smithy near Llandeloy but knew of it and did meet Maurice a couple of times. Friends of mine owned a neighbouring farm and he was often described as " a bit of a local character". It was not an uncommon sight to see Maurice trundling around a field on the tractor naked and giving a cheery wave to passing traffic or a jet from RAF Brawdy .
Yes and if Maurice was not naked he was always in his "baby grow" as he called it, it was a orange boiler suit which he would go around in with nothing underneath. We went back once and found the place sold to a couple who sold paintings. 😕
