Hi everyone
I had the chance to visit Orient Beach in St. Martin several years ago -- my first and only nude beach experience. I felt quite comfortable taking off my clothes and enjoying the day in the warm sun feeling the breeze on my body, even having lunch at the restaurant in the nude.
What was fascinating was that everyone was just naturally comfortable in the nude or being with nude people -- nothing juvenile about it, just a very mature spirit and no big deal. People were accepting. Though there must be the occasional problem as the security guard walking around with a baton attested to!
The only problem with going to a nude beach on my own though was the fact that it's very hard to self-apply sun tan lotion on one's own back and thus I walked away with quite a burn!!
I look forward to another opportunity some day to experience the joy again.
This topic confronts that same probem

I've been to Orient Beach, St Martin. The whole island is very relaxed, no one bothers if your clothed or not. The resort we stayed on didn't mind skinny dips in the pool or on the beach. Some of the Americans were not that keen though.
It's a great island.
Yes...another topic for another forum that may already have been beaten to death -- why are North Americans so uptight about nudity?? (albeit we Canadians are generally a bit more liberal than our southern neighbours)
Having said that -- confession time: when I told the taxi driver I wanted to go to Orient Beach, he asked "nude or clothed beach"...I sheepishly answered "clothed" and walked across the beach to the nude side. Hard to escape our cultural baggage so easily 🙂
We are off to Club Orient next month for a couple of weeks, from what's been said it sounds wonderful. Any previous visitors got any special tips?
Regarding the USA and Canada it depends on where you are and who you are with at the time, not all of them are prudes.
In the USA it would seem that most of the problems stem from outdated laws and religious zealots which the politicians and elected officials have to pander to get elected.

I suspect that they only pander to them because they are not aware that they are the noisy minority posing as the silent majority.

You could well be right John
Back to the original post - re the only problem was how to apply sun tan lotion on your back - don't see why this is a nudist issue - almost all men don't wear a top on a beach and women even if they're not topless still have the same issue. But most people will assist if asked.
[gmod]The original topic is "First nude beach experience", there is another topic on this board "Who to Ask" which is the one that deals with applying suntan lotion [/gmod]
Orient Bay is pretty much the perfect place to experience a nude beach for the first time. dining in the restaurant is lovely too. We've been going there for quite a few years now and just love the 24-7 nudity.
