Hi All,

just though i would share my experience of Maspalomas and gran canaria.

first off we are male/female married couple with 1 6 yr old daughter. we stayed in the resort of maspalomas in a nice self catering bungalow complex. we hired a car with intent of doing a little exploring.

on our first day we located the naturist section of Maspalomas beach. we spent much of the day there. I wouldn't return for 2 reasons.
1) the wind whips up the sand and you just get covered and everything in its path.

2) the constant clothed walkers. it didn't make me uncomfortable as such and for us the general age of the whole beach was a little old. there wasn't much socialising done. ( I actually prefered Cap d'agde unbelievably)

so we went in search of other beaches. we found a lovely black sand beach about 10 min drive from Maspalomas which was mostly sheltered from the winds. during the week there were only a few people and there was some naturist couples so we joined in. however at the weekends it was very busy and no naturism. we still really liked the beach it had a lovely young vibe and mostly local people. some illeagal camping on beach but no one seemed to mind. it was called Pasito Bea / Playa de las Mujeres Beach

I found a great website detailing lots of naturist beaches in Gran canaria.

We found the naturist section of the beach at maspalomas a bit overcrowded. Not nice if you have a smoker a few feet away from you.
We found a spot in the dunes. We liked Maspalomas so hopefully we will go back.

Last time I was there I went into the dunes to get away from the sandblasting. It was amazing how sheltered it was there and not at all windy. At least my tan was due to the sun and not to the sand blowing against my nude body.
