I've been researching the beaches of Asturias, Spain for my trip there next week.

I have found four that look promising. Three are fairly close together and the fourth is a bit of a drive away but due to the reviews on Tripadvisor I think I should probably make the effort.

Playa de Requexinos (also called Playon de Bayas), which is near the airport.

Playa Aguilera, which is a quiet cove.

Playa de Peñarrubia, which seems to have recently reopened after several years of being closed due to cliff rockfalls.

Playa de Torimbia (which is meant to be especially beautiful, and therefore there are a fair few swimsuits around).

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has been to one of these or another Asturias beach. I particularly want to know how sandy the beaches are, and if they are nudist majority or just places you can be naked if you don't mind being different (because I won't feel so comfortable then.)

I hired a car in Asturias. It's so nice to live in an age where you can set your phone to Google Maps and it will direct you to the right beach.

Here's what I thought of the beaches.

Playa de Requexinos (also called Playon de Bayas).

It's only at the very end of this beach that you're allowed to go into the water, and the waves made swimming not very practical. So not a swimmer's beach but plenty of room for naturists, although there were a fair few wearing bottoms, too. Lovely sand. I left this beach and within the hour I was at the departue gate for my flight home.

Playa Aguilera

A beautiful off-the-beaten-track 100% naturist cove which you need to be intrepid to climb down from the clifftop to the beach. Beautiful once you are down on the beach, though. There are two coves here, both with plenty of sand. The whole experience from parking to getting to the cove was incredibly strongly reminiscent of Pednvounder beach in Cornwall, and just as pretty.

Playa de Peñarrubia

I arrived to find only men on this beach, and since I'd seen mentions on the Internet about it being a bit of a gay cruising ground, I decided it might be best to try a different beach. It's the easiest beach to access of the four I visited, but the least sand. I suspect I may just have got there too early in the morning, so would like to hear what others think.

Playa de Torimbia

I really recommend this beach. Normally when there are plenty of non-nudists around I don't necessarily feel comfortable, but this place was a naturist beach with totally welcome textile guests. About half were naked. If you want to go to the beach with someone but they are not sure if they want to go naked, go here. They will feel totally comfortable whatever they decide, but the ethos might just make them go for it! A beautiful location.
